Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Technical Recruiter
Map your degree to specialty occupation
Recruiting roles qualify as specialty occupations when tied to a specific field like human resources, industrial psychology, or organizational behavior. Pull your O*NET profile for 'Human Resources Specialist' to document the degree-to-role link before your first employer conversation.
Target employers with dedicated HR functions
Mid-size and enterprise tech, finance, and healthcare firms with in-house talent teams are your strongest H-1B1 sponsors. They already manage immigration compliance internally, so the consular-only filing process for H-1B1 Singapore won't catch their legal team off guard.
Search verified H-1B1 sponsors on Migrate Mate
Filter Migrate Mate's job board by H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship history to see which employers have filed for Singaporean nationals in recruiting and HR roles. That filing history signals a sponsor who won't treat your visa status as a dealbreaker in the final offer stage.
Get your credentials assessed before applying
Singapore's three-year bachelor's degrees sometimes raise questions during LCA review. Request a credential evaluation from a NACES-recognized agency that explicitly confirms U.S. equivalency to a four-year degree, and attach it to every application package from day one.
Confirm the employer files the LCA before signing
Your employer must file a Labor Condition Application with DOL and receive certification before your consular appointment. Ask HR or legal counsel whether they've run LCA filings through FLAG before you accept an offer, not after, to avoid last-minute delays.
Verify prevailing wage compliance for your role
Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the prevailing wage for your recruiting role by job title and metro area before salary negotiations. Your offer must meet or exceed that figure for DOL to certify the LCA, and knowing the number in advance prevents renegotiation surprises.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Technical Recruiter role qualify as a specialty occupation for the H-1B1 Singapore visa?
Yes, but the framing matters. A generic 'recruiter' title can be borderline, so your employer should structure the role under a classification like Human Resources Specialist or Talent Acquisition Analyst and document that the position requires a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as human resources, psychology, or business. The O*NET profile for Human Resources Specialists supports this designation.
How does the H-1B1 Singapore visa differ from the H-1B for Technical Recruiter roles?
The H-1B1 Singapore visa skips the lottery entirely, which is the single biggest practical difference for Singaporean professionals. You apply directly at the U.S. Embassy in Singapore after your employer completes the LCA through DOL. There's no USCIS petition, no random selection, and the 5,400 annual cap has never been exhausted, so qualified applicants aren't competing against tens of thousands of registrants the way H-1B candidates are.
How do I find employers who actively sponsor H-1B1 Singapore visas for recruiting roles?
Migrate Mate filters job listings by H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship history, so you can focus on employers who've already navigated the consular filing process for Singaporean nationals. Companies with in-house legal or HR operations teams, particularly in tech and professional services, are the most consistent sponsors because they already manage LCA compliance for other visa categories.
Can I switch employers after starting a Technical Recruiter role on an H-1B1 Singapore visa?
You can change employers, but your new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL and you'll need a new visa issued through the consulate before starting the new role. The H-1B1 visa doesn't have the same portability rules that apply to H-1B holders under AC21, so a job change requires restarting the employer-side filing process, including LCA certification and a new consular appointment.
What documentation should I prepare before a Technical Recruiter role goes to LCA filing?
Have your degree transcripts ready with a NACES credential evaluation if you hold a Singapore three-year qualification, your updated resume organized by role and employer, and documentation connecting your degree field to the recruiting function. Your employer's legal team will use these to complete the LCA and, if requested by the consular officer, to substantiate the specialty occupation classification at your visa interview.
