Verify your degree meets specialty occupation criteria
A VP of Sales role must require at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field to qualify as a specialty occupation. Pull your O*NET occupation profile for Sales Managers to confirm the standard educational requirement before applying.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Search DOL's OFLC Wage Search to identify companies that have filed Labor Condition Applications for VP-level sales roles. Prior LCA activity signals an employer already understands the H-1B1 visa filing process and won't treat your sponsorship as unfamiliar territory.
Use Migrate Mate to filter H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship roles
Search Migrate Mate to find VP of Sales openings from employers with verified H-1B1 Singapore filing history. The platform surfaces DOL Labor Condition Application data so you're targeting companies that have actually sponsored this visa, not ones guessing at the process.
Frame relocation timing around LCA certification windows
The employer must obtain DOL LCA certification before your consulate interview can proceed. Build at least two to three weeks for LCA processing into your offer negotiation timeline so your start date doesn't conflict with the filing sequence.
Prepare a Singapore-specific credential package early
Singaporean academic transcripts often need official translation and credential evaluation before a U.S. employer's HR team can confirm specialty occupation eligibility. Obtain certified evaluations through a NACES-member organization before you're under offer so you don't delay filing.
Clarify E-Verify enrollment before accepting an offer
VP of Sales roles sometimes involve managing sales teams subject to E-Verify compliance requirements. Confirm your prospective employer is already enrolled in E-Verify before signing, since unenrolled employers face additional steps that can delay your work authorization start date.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Vice President Of Sales role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B1 Singapore purposes?
Yes, if the position genuinely requires at least a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, management, or a directly related field. Generalist VP titles that accept any degree or treat education as optional can be challenged. Your employer needs to document in the Labor Condition Application that the degree requirement is an actual job condition, not just a preference.
How does the H-1B1 Singapore visa compare to the H-1B for a VP Of Sales role?
The H-1B1 Singapore skips the H-1B lottery entirely, which means no March registration gamble for a VP-level hire. The 5,400-visa annual cap for Singapore nationals rarely fills, so processing runs on consulate timelines rather than USCIS petition queues. The trade-off is that H-1B1 doesn't carry dual intent, so you'll need to maintain nonimmigrant intent throughout your status.
How can I find employers who actually sponsor H-1B1 Singapore visas for VP Of Sales roles?
Migrate Mate filters VP of Sales openings by verified H-1B1 Singapore filing history using DOL Labor Condition Application data, so you're not cold-applying to companies that have never navigated the process. Targeting employers with prior LCA activity in sales leadership roles significantly reduces the back-and-forth of explaining the visa to an unfamiliar HR team.
Can I switch employers on an H-1B1 Singapore visa if I receive a better VP Of Sales offer?
Yes, but you can't port the way H-1B holders can under AC21 portability rules. The new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL and you'll need to return to the consulate for a new visa stamp before starting the new role. Negotiate your transition timeline with both employers accordingly, and don't resign before the new LCA is certified.
Does the H-1B1 Singapore visa cover a VP Of Sales role at a startup with no prior sponsorship history?
It can, but startups without prior LCA filings require more groundwork. Your employer needs to register with DOL's FLAG system, complete the LCA, and meet prevailing wage requirements confirmed through the OFLC Wage Search for your work location. Smaller companies may also need additional time to align payroll systems with DOL wage attestation obligations before your consulate appointment is viable.
