Translate your credentials into U.S. accounting standards
Agricultural employers filing H-2A visa petitions for accounting roles need proof your qualifications meet U.S. standards. Get foreign transcripts evaluated by a NACES-accredited agency so your degree reads as equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's in accounting or finance.
Target farms with complex multistate payroll obligations
Large agricultural operations managing workers across multiple states need dedicated accountants year-round during peak harvest cycles. These employers are far more likely to pursue H-2A sponsorship for an accountant than a small single-crop operation with basic bookkeeping needs.
Search verified H-2A employer filings on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter employers with active H-2A filing history in agricultural accounting roles. Targeting employers who have already navigated the process cuts your outreach time and focuses your applications on operations with real sponsorship infrastructure.
Confirm the role qualifies as seasonal before applying
H-2A requires positions to be temporary or seasonal in nature. Accountant roles tied to harvest-season payroll, crop insurance reconciliation, or seasonal labor cost audits qualify. Year-round general accounting positions at the same employer typically do not.
Ask employers about the job order filed with DOL
Every H-2A petition starts with a job order submitted to DOL that defines your duties, wage rate, and employment period. Review it before accepting an offer to verify your accounting duties are accurately described, since discrepancies can complicate your visa filing.
Check your wage offer against the published AEWR
The Adverse Effect Wage Rate is set by DOL for each state and must be the floor for your compensation. Cross-reference your offer against the AEWR using the OFLC Wage Search tool to confirm your employer is meeting the legal minimum before signing any contract.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Accountant jobs with H-2A visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find agricultural employers who have filed H-2A petitions for accounting roles. Search by job title and filter for H-2A sponsorship history to surface operations that have already demonstrated the ability to sponsor temporary agricultural workers. This saves time compared to cold outreach to employers unfamiliar with the H-2A process.
What housing and transportation must an H-2A employer provide an Accountant?
H-2A employers are legally required to provide free housing that meets federal and state safety standards for the duration of your employment period. They must also cover transportation costs from your home country to the worksite and back at the end of the contract. These obligations apply regardless of job title, including accounting and finance roles at agricultural operations.
Does an Accountant role qualify for the H-2A visa?
An Accountant position qualifies for H-2A only if it is tied to a temporary or seasonal agricultural need, such as harvest payroll processing, seasonal crop insurance reporting, or peak-season labor cost auditing. Permanent or year-round general accounting roles at the same employer do not meet the H-2A seasonality requirement, and USCIS will scrutinize petitions where the position appears ongoing.
What wage must an H-2A employer pay an Accountant on a sponsored visa?
H-2A employers must pay whichever is higher: the Adverse Effect Wage Rate published by DOL for the state where you will work, or the prevailing wage for the accounting occupation in that region. The AEWR is updated annually and varies by state. You can verify the current rate for your work location using the OFLC Wage Search tool before accepting an offer.
