H-2B Visa Instructor Jobs
Instructor jobs with H-2B visa sponsorship are available at ski resorts, summer camps, dive centers, and outdoor recreation programs that need qualified instructors for a defined season. Employers must file a temporary labor certification with the DOL before sponsoring you, and the 66,000-visa annual cap means timing your application to the correct semi-annual filing window is critical.

Verify your credentials match the role
H-2B visa instructors are hired for specific, documented seasonal needs. Gather certifications that match the instruction type, such as ski patrol, aquatics, or outdoor education credentials, before employers will treat your application seriously.
Target employers with documented seasonal demand
Focus on operators whose instructional need is tied to a fixed season, like ski resorts closing in spring or summer camps with a hard end date. DOL requires employers to prove the job is genuinely temporary, so established seasonal programs are your strongest bet.
Search verified sponsors on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Instructor roles by employers with active H-2B sponsorship history. That lets you skip cold outreach and focus on employers who have already cleared DOL labor certification for seasonal instructional positions.
Ask employers about their recruitment timeline
DOL requires employers to advertise the role and attempt U.S. worker recruitment before certifying your petition. Confirm when they plan to start that process, since the cap-filing window opens months before your actual start date.
File during the correct cap registration period
The 66,000 annual H-2B cap is split into two 33,000-slot halves: October through March and April through September. If your instructing season starts in the second half, confirm your employer files within the corresponding registration window to avoid cap exhaustion.
Check the OFLC Wage Search for your occupation
DOL requires your employer to pay the prevailing wage for your Instructor occupation in your specific location. Look up your role in the OFLC Wage Search to confirm the wage tier, since a misclassified prevailing wage is a common LCA rejection trigger.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find Instructor jobs with H-2B visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lists Instructor positions at employers with verified H-2B sponsorship history, so you're not guessing which operators actually go through the DOL certification process. Filter by job title and season start date to match openings to the cap-filing window that applies to your intended work period.
How does the H-2B annual cap affect Instructor job seekers?
USCIS issues a maximum of 66,000 H-2B visas per fiscal year, divided into two 33,000-slot halves. Instructors hired for winter programs, such as ski or snowboard instruction, compete for the October-March allocation, while summer camp and outdoor education instructors compete for the April-September half. Once a cap is exhausted, no additional visas are issued for that period, so employers must file petitions as early as DOL allows to secure your slot.
Does my specific instructor certification affect H-2B eligibility?
H-2B does not require a four-year degree, but your employer must define the job duties and any certification requirements in their temporary labor certification application to DOL. If the role requires a specific credential, such as a lifeguard certification, a CPR card, or a recognized ski instructor license, that credential must be documented in the petition and you must hold it before your visa is issued.
Can I extend my H-2B status if the instructional season runs longer than expected?
H-2B status can be extended in one-year increments up to a maximum of three years, but only if the employer files an extension petition with USCIS before your current period expires and can document that the additional time is still tied to a temporary, seasonal need. After reaching the three-year limit, you must depart the U.S. and remain outside for at least three consecutive months before a new H-2B petition can be approved.
