Health And Safety Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a health and safety manager in Texas?
Texas does not issue a state license for health and safety managers, so the path runs through national certification and employer-recognized credentials. Most hiring managers in Texas expect a bachelor's degree in occupational safety, environmental science, or engineering alongside a Certified Safety Professional credential from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. Candidates targeting oil and gas or petrochemical roles often add a Process Safety Management specialization, which is heavily weighted by Texas Gulf Coast employers.
How much do health and safety managers make in Texas?
Health and safety managers in Texas earn a median of about $79,660 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $46,380 for the lowest 10% to over $126,500 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire health and safety managers in Texas?
Employers hiring health and safety managers in Texas right now include TMEIC, Assurant, and CelLink, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of energy, construction, and advanced manufacturing employers means demand is spread across both large corporate safety departments and regional contractors supporting major infrastructure projects.
Which Texas cities have the most health and safety manager jobs?
Katy, Abilene, and Austin have the most health and safety manager openings in Texas. Houston leads because it is home to the largest petrochemical and refining complex in the country, while Dallas-Fort Worth draws from its dense construction, logistics, and corporate headquarters activity, and San Antonio generates steady demand through military installations, healthcare systems, and expanding manufacturing.
Are there remote health and safety manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. The role is fundamentally site-based, requiring physical walkthroughs, equipment inspections, and direct worker interaction that cannot be done remotely. About 0% of health and safety manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions tend to cover compliance documentation, policy writing, and EHS program auditing rather than active field safety oversight.
How can I get hired as a health and safety manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an EHS coordinator or safety technician role, which large Texas employers in construction and energy use as a direct pipeline into management. Companies like Turner Construction and major Gulf Coast refinery operators regularly bring on associates who hold an OSHA 30-Hour Construction or General Industry card and are working toward their CSP. Starting in an adjacent role such as environmental compliance specialist or industrial hygiene technician at a Texas petrochemical or utilities employer is another concrete way in, with lateral movement into safety management after building field hours.
Where can I find and apply to health and safety manager jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to health and safety manager jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings updated regularly. Search the listings for roles that match your experience and specialization, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
