Health Data Analyst Jobs in Utah: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a health data analyst in Utah?
Most Utah employers expect a bachelor's degree in health informatics, biostatistics, public health, or a closely related field as the baseline for this role. Health data analyst is not a state-licensed occupation in Utah, so no Utah-specific license or exam is required. Candidates who add a Registered Health Information Administrator credential through AHIMA or a Certified Health Data Analyst certification strengthen their applications considerably with Utah hospital systems and insurers.
How much do health data analysts make in Utah?
Health data analysts in Utah earn a median of about $108,090 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $60,680 for the lowest 10% to over $167,890 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire health data analysts in Utah?
Utah health data analyst roles are posted by Zions Bancorporation, Cytiva, and Filevine and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Utah's concentration of large integrated health systems and regional health insurers means demand is spread across both clinical and payer-side organizations throughout the Wasatch Front.
Which Utah cities have the most health data analyst jobs?
Midvale, Salt Lake City, and Roy account for the largest share of health data analyst openings in Utah. Salt Lake City drives the most volume because it is home to the state's major academic medical centers, health insurer headquarters, and state health agency offices, while Provo and Ogden benefit from the regional presence of large hospital networks and growing technology-adjacent health operations.
Are there remote health data analyst jobs in Utah?
Yes, and more than most fields, because health data analysis is fundamentally desk-based and output-driven rather than tied to a physical clinical setting. About 100% of health data analyst openings tied to Utah are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how portable this work is when HIPAA-compliant data access can be established remotely. Roles focused on reporting, claims analysis, and population health modeling tend to be the most consistently offered as remote positions.
How can I get hired as a health data analyst in Utah with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a junior or associate data analyst role within a health system or insurer, where the expectation is foundational SQL and spreadsheet skills rather than deep clinical knowledge. Intermountain Health and University of Utah Health both post entry-level analyst and data coordinator positions that serve as a direct on-ramp. Lateral moves from health information management, medical coding, or clinical documentation roles are also common. Completing a Certified Health Data Analyst or RHIT credential through AHIMA, or building a portfolio using publicly available CMS datasets, gives candidates a measurable edge over others applying without experience.
Where can I find and apply to health data analyst jobs in Utah?
Migrate Mate lists current health data analyst openings in Utah sourced from employers actively hiring right now. Search the listings to find roles that match your background, then apply directly to the ones that fit your experience level and location preferences.
