Tips for Your Housekeeping Job Search
Tailor your resume to the property type
A hotel resume should highlight room quota targets and inspection pass rates, while a healthcare facility resume needs to emphasize infection control protocols. Matching your language to the employer's environment signals you already understand their standards.
List certifications that set you apart
OSHA safety training, blood-borne pathogen certification, and IEHA credentials appear in postings for hospital and commercial roles. Adding these to your resume, even if self-completed, moves you past screeners who filter for compliance-aware candidates.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists housekeeping openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Search by property tier not just job title
Luxury resort and five-star hotel postings use terms like 'turndown attendant' or 'houseperson' instead of 'housekeeper.' Searching those specific titles uncovers openings that generic searches miss and tend to attract fewer applicants.
Prepare for a walk-through interview
Many housekeeping interviews include a practical component where you demonstrate bed-making, product knowledge, or room inspection readiness. Knowing the employer's linen fold standard or preferred cleaning sequence before you arrive shows genuine preparation.
Negotiate schedule before accepting an offer
Housekeeping shifts vary widely, from pre-dawn hospital rounds to late checkout hotel rushes. Clarify your expected start times, weekend rotation, and on-call expectations during the offer stage so there are no surprises after you accept.
Housekeeping Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most housekeepings?
The companies hiring the most housekeepings right now include McDonald's, Panera Bread, and Troon, with the largest share of openings in California, Texas, and Florida, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Hospitality groups and healthcare systems tend to post the highest volumes of openings at any given time.
How many housekeeping jobs are remote?
About 0% of housekeeping openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how hands-on the role is in most settings. The sub-areas most likely to include remote or flexible components are housekeeping management, scheduling coordination, and quality assurance roles where oversight rather than direct cleaning is the primary responsibility.
How do you become a housekeeping?
Most housekeeping roles require no formal degree. Start by gaining experience through entry-level cleaning positions at hotels, residential services, or healthcare facilities. Complete any available OSHA safety or infection control training to strengthen your candidacy. Build familiarity with commercial cleaning equipment and standard room inspection checklists, then apply to positions that match your experience level and preferred environment.
How do you get hired in housekeeping with little or no experience?
Many housekeeping employers hire candidates with no prior professional experience if you can demonstrate reliability, physical stamina, and attention to detail. Highlight any personal caregiving, volunteer cleaning, or domestic work in your application. Applying to properties that advertise on-the-job training, such as extended-stay hotels or assisted living facilities, gives you the best chance of landing your first paid role.
What does the housekeeping interview process look like?
Housekeeping interviews typically begin with a short conversation about your availability, experience with cleaning products, and comfort with physical demands. Some employers follow this with a brief property walk-through or a practical demonstration of bed-making or room setup. References from previous employers or supervisors are commonly requested before a final offer is made, especially at hotels and healthcare facilities.
Where can I find and apply to housekeeping jobs?
You can find and apply to housekeeping jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and preferred work environment, and apply directly to each listing that fits.
