HVAC Jobs in Charleston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a hvac job in Charleston?
Start with Charleston's busiest hiring sectors: residential construction in West Ashley and James Island, commercial build-outs in the Upper Peninsula, and facilities maintenance for the city's hotels, hospitals, and military installations. Employers here favor candidates who can handle both installation and service calls, so versatility matters. EPA 608 certification and experience with humidity-heavy coastal climates give applicants a real edge in this market.
Which companies hire hvacs in Charleston?
Companies currently hiring hvacs in Charleston include EMCOR, LAUKOA, and M&B Heating & Air, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Charleston's mix of residential contractors, commercial mechanical firms, and large facility operators like hotel groups and healthcare systems keeps demand consistent across employer types.
Are there remote hvac jobs in Charleston?
Remote work is rare in hvac because most roles require hands-on installation, maintenance, or service on-site. About 0% of hvac openings tied to Charleston are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those positions tend to be in estimating, project coordination, or service dispatch rather than field technician work.
How can I get a hvac job in Charleston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Charleston is an apprenticeship or helper role with a local residential contractor, particularly those active in the fast-growing West Ashley and Johns Island subdivisions. Entry-level service helper and installer assistant positions regularly open with mid-size local firms. Candidates who hold or are actively pursuing EPA 608 certification stand out, and trade school completion from programs like Trident Technical College gives a concrete hiring advantage.
