Installer Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a installer in Texas?
The path depends on the installation specialty you pursue. For HVAC installation, Texas requires an HVAC contractor license through the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, which involves passing a trade exam and meeting experience requirements. For electrical installation work, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation also oversees electrician apprentice and journeyman credentials. For cable, fiber, and low-voltage systems, most Texas employers provide on-the-job training, with BICSI or NICET certifications improving your standing.
Which companies hire installers in Texas?
Employers hiring installers in Texas right now include XPEL, Costco Wholesale, and Freedom Solar, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's large construction pipeline and expanding broadband infrastructure keep demand from both national service companies and regional specialty contractors consistently high.
Which Texas cities have the most installer jobs?
Austin, Houston, and Dallas lead Texas for installer openings. Houston's energy, construction, and industrial sectors generate the heaviest volume, Dallas-Fort Worth draws demand from commercial development and telecommunications infrastructure, and San Antonio's growing residential construction market and military installation campuses support steady field technician and trade installer hiring.
Are there remote installer jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Most installer work is hands-on and tied to a physical job site, making it one of the less remote-compatible occupations. About 4% of installer openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions typically involve project coordination, estimating, or technical support roles rather than field installation work itself.
How can I get hired as a installer in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is an apprenticeship through a Texas trade union or contractor training program. The Associated Builders and Contractors of Texas and local IBEW chapters run structured apprenticeships that combine paid field work with classroom instruction, starting with no prior experience required. Candidates who complete an OSHA 10 certification and hold a valid Texas driver's license move to the front of most entry-level applicant pools. Helper and laborer roles at HVAC contractors and electrical firms are the most common lateral entry points.
Where can I find and apply to installer jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to installer jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across specialties and metros. Find roles that fit your experience and location, then apply directly to the employer. No detours, no extra steps.
