Insurance Jobs in Knoxville: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an insurance job in Knoxville?
The strongest path into Knoxville's insurance market runs through healthcare-adjacent roles, commercial lines, and employee benefits, where local demand is most consistent. Employers in the West Knoxville office corridor and downtown frequently hire for account management, underwriting support, and claims. Candidates who pair a relevant license with experience in medical or commercial property lines stand out, as do those familiar with the regional employer base that drives group benefits activity here.
Which companies hire insurance professionals in Knoxville?
Knoxville insurance roles are posted by Freeway Insurance Services America, ARDAN, and Kemper and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. The local market includes regional carriers, independent agencies, and large self-insured employers in healthcare and manufacturing who staff their own risk and benefits teams.
Are there remote insurance jobs in Knoxville?
Yes, though it depends on the role: desk-based work like underwriting, claims analysis, and benefits administration is more remote-friendly, while field sales and on-site risk assessment roles typically require a local presence. About 57% of insurance openings tied to Knoxville are remote or hybrid as of September 2026. Analytical and back-office roles at larger carriers and third-party administrators in Knoxville tend to offer the most flexibility.
How can I get an insurance job in Knoxville with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point in Knoxville is a customer service or claims support role at a regional agency or a self-insured employer's internal benefits team. Independent agencies in the West Knoxville and Farragut areas regularly bring on unlicensed candidates and support them through the licensing process. A property and casualty or life and health license, even obtained before applying, signals seriousness and removes a common barrier for local hiring managers.
