Duties
- Oversee all financial activities related to construction projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash management
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards such as GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), and other regulatory requirements
- Manage general ledger accounting, including account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and journal entries using accounting software like Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar platforms
- Prepare and review detailed financial reports, including project cost analysis, cash flow statements, and regulatory reports for governmental agencies or non-profit entities
- Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure timely payments and collections
- Conduct financial analysis to support project decision-making, including variance analysis and forecasting
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions related to construction activities, ensuring audit readiness at all times
Requirements
- Proven experience in corporate accounting with a focus on construction or project-based environments
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards such as GAAP, IFRS, SOX compliance, and governmental or non-profit accounting practices
- Expertise in financial concepts including double entry bookkeeping, account reconciliation, debits & credits, and balance sheet management
