Mid Level Intellectual Property Attorney Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level intellectual property attorney job?
Position your application around the complexity and autonomy of the work you have already handled. Highlight matters you owned end to end, client relationships you managed independently, and any technical background that strengthens your practice area. Bar admission, a relevant undergraduate degree in science or engineering for patent roles, and a clear specialization in copyright, trademark, or patent law all sharpen your candidacy at this level.
Which companies hire mid level intellectual property attorneys?
Companies hiring mid level intellectual property attorneys right now include Goodyear, Scale AI, and Amazon, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a broad mix of law firms, in-house legal departments at technology and life sciences companies, and corporate legal teams that need attorneys who can handle IP portfolios with real independence.
Are there remote mid level intellectual property attorney jobs?
Yes, though availability depends on practice area and employer. About 40% of mid level intellectual property attorney openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with trademark prosecution and IP counseling roles tending to offer more flexibility than litigation-heavy positions that require court appearances or on-site client collaboration.
How do I move up to a mid level intellectual property attorney role?
The path from entry level to mid level is built on accumulating ownership, not just time. Attorneys who advance take on progressively more complex matters, stop relying on senior review for routine filings, develop a client-facing presence, and demonstrate a defined area of depth whether in patent prosecution, trademark clearance, or IP litigation. Measurable output, such as portfolio growth or successful office action responses, makes that progression legible to hiring teams.
Which industries hire the most mid level intellectual property attorneys?
Mid Level intellectual property attorney roles concentrate in Automotive, Manufacturing, and Law & Legal Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because their business models depend on protecting proprietary technology, brands, or creative assets, creating sustained demand for attorneys who can manage portfolios and advise on IP strategy without heavy supervision.
