Internal Auditor Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a internal auditor in Florida?
Florida does not require a state-issued license to work as an internal auditor, but most employers expect a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance plus the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation, administered globally by the Institute of Internal Auditors, which is headquartered in Lake Mary, Florida. Candidates typically start in staff accounting or external audit roles, then move into internal audit. Earning the CIA or a CPA strengthens most Florida applications considerably.
Which companies hire internal auditors in Florida?
Employers hiring internal auditors in Florida right now include CHEP, CONMED, and Rooms To Go, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Florida's concentration of financial services firms, large healthcare systems, and publicly traded hospitality and real estate companies means internal audit roles appear at a wide range of established organizations across the state.
Which Florida cities have the most internal auditor jobs?
Tampa, Florida, and Largo have the most internal auditor openings in Florida. Miami drives volume through its dense concentration of international banks, insurance companies, and Fortune 500 regional headquarters, while Tampa's growing finance and healthcare sectors and Orlando's large hospitality and healthcare employers keep all three metros consistently active for audit professionals.
Are there remote internal auditor jobs in Florida?
Yes, and more than most fields, because internal audit work is heavily analytical and document-driven. About 80% of internal auditor openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how well the role translates to off-site work. Phases involving live system walkthroughs or physical inventory observation are the most likely to require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a internal auditor in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a staff accountant or accounts payable role at a large Florida employer, then transferring into an internal audit associate position once you have a year or two of financial operations exposure. Florida healthcare systems like AdventHealth and HCA Florida, along with large public companies headquartered in the state, run rotational finance and audit programs that accept recent graduates. Pursuing the CIA exam while in an adjacent role signals serious intent and gives candidates a clear edge.
Where can I find and apply to internal auditor jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to internal auditor jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current Florida openings updated regularly. Search the listings, find roles that match your experience and location, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
