Position: IT Systems Administrator (Mid)
This role is responsible for administering and securing the company’s IT environment, including Microsoft 365, endpoint management, identity and access controls, infrastructure reliability, and compliance support in a federal contracting environment. The position also provides escalation-level support for end-user issues and helps maintain operational IT processes such as asset tracking, documentation, and vendor coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
Systems Administration & Infrastructure
- Support Windows-based servers and workstations
- Monitor system performance, backups, and patch management
- Assist with network infrastructure, wireless access points, and VPN connectivity
- Maintain file shares, cloud storage, and collaboration platforms
- Coordinate with external vendors and managed service providers as needed
Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Assist with implementation and maintenance of cybersecurity best practices
- Support compliance efforts related to CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, and other government security requirements
- Monitor security alerts and respond to incidents or vulnerabilities
- Help maintain documentation, policies, and procedures for audits and assessments
- Participate in user cybersecurity awareness training initiatives
IT Operations & Escalation Support
- Provide escalation-level technical support for employees when issues require systems, access, endpoint, or security expertise
- Resolve complex hardware, software, network, VPN, identity, and collaboration platform issues
- Oversee endpoint provisioning, lifecycle management, and secure configuration of company devices
- Maintain accurate asset and inventory records to support security, compliance, and operational planning
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls in Microsoft 365 and Active Directory
- Maintain IT inventory and asset tracking documentation
Documentation & Process Improvement
- Create and maintain technical documentation and standard operating procedures
- Recommend process improvements and technology upgrades
- Support business continuity and disaster recovery efforts
AI & Automation
- Evaluate, deploy, and support AI-powered tools across productivity, security, and operations functions
- Serve as an internal resource for AI tool adoption -- helping staff use AI effectively and responsibly
- Work with leadership to assess AI tools for compliance fit in federal contracting environments
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of IT support or systems administration experience
- Experience with:
- Microsoft 365 Administration
- Windows Server and Windows 10/11 environments
- Active Directory and Azure AD/Entra ID
- Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN)
- Endpoint management and cybersecurity tools
- Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently
- Practical understanding of AI capabilities and limitations relevant to IT operations, security, and compliance
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting government contractors or federal environments
- Familiarity with:
- CMMC compliance
- SharePoint and Teams administration
- Industry certifications such as:
- CompTIA Security+
- Network+
- Microsoft certifications
Security Clearance: Active Secret
Location: Fully remote; candidates located in the San Diego or Los Angeles area preferred
