HUD's Mission
The mission of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is to foster strong communities by supporting access to quality, affordable housing, expanding the housing supply, and unlocking homeownership opportunities for the American people. This position is located in the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO). This mission of OCIO is to enable delivery of HUD programs, services, and management processes by providing high-quality information technology (IT) solutions and services. The strategic goals of OCIO are to: rapidly modernize HUD's information technology to support key business initiatives; transform the information technology infrastructure to adapt to and adopt emerging technologies; develop a cadre of highly capable IT professionals with mission critical competencies needed to meet the Department's goals; and provide secure, rapid, and reliable data and information to our customers.
As a IT Specialist (Network) (Network Administrator), you will:
- Develop, interpret, and apply information security and information assurance policies, principles, procedures, and best practices in the use and delivery of IT networking and related systems and services throughout the system life cycle.
- Troubleshoot and assist customers with network-related issues and problems via Help Desk trouble ticketing systems, complaints received via email, verbal, or other communications channels.

Key Requirements:- Must be U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
- A one year probationary period may be required. Continued employment is contingent upon supervisory certification that continued employment will benefit the Federal Service; the certification will occur no less than 30 days before the end of the probationary/trial period.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.
- Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required.
- Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
- Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
- If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
- Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form i-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.

Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-13 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized Experience for this position includes:
- Supporting information technology activities for an organization (i.e., local, wide area networks, and cloud network environments in support of an enterprise infrastructure, security infrastructure, Enterprise applications, Network files and print services, User account access associated rights and privileges, and operating systems); AND
- Isolating and defining issues or conditions in systems and networks-resolving critical problems in systems and networks, and developing new approaches and techniques for use by others; AND
- Providing technical and authoritative IT support and project management.
In addition to specialized experience, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.
- Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
- Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
- Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
