Position Summary
The IT Systems Administrator serves as the primary technical resource for the ITW Construction North America platform and its affiliated divisions. Reporting to the IT Operations Manager, this role will administer day-to-day infrastructure operations of servers and networks, security posture of the Business systems. Works with the Business Solution team to manage the underlying infrastructure of EDI, Business Intelligence, and ERP systems. The ideal candidate is a self-directed technologist who understands how systems work at a fundamental level, thrives in a lean high-impact environment, and brings a disciplined approach to documentation, change management, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Systems Operations

- Manage virtual infrastructure including VM provisioning, snapshot lifecycle, storage allocation, and capacity planning, with a deep understanding of hypervisor architecture and VM management principles
- Support hybrid environments spanning on-premises servers and cloud-hosted workloads, with solid grounding in identity, conditional access, and device management concepts
- Oversee backup and disaster recovery operations; document and validate recovery procedures on a regular cadence
- Monitor system health proactively and respond to alerts before they become incidents
Networking
- Design and maintain logical network segmentation
- Build and maintain firewall policy sets with a clear understanding of traffic flow, stateful inspection, and least-privilege principles
- Support site-to-site and remote access VPN configurations; understand tunnel negotiation, encryption tradeoffs, and split-tunneling behavior
- Diagnose network issues methodically from the physical layer up through the application layer
Security & Compliance
- Maintain endpoint security posture, triage alerts from endpoint detection tooling, and escalate confirmed incidents through appropriate channels
- Implement and validate security baselines through configuration management
- Participate in vulnerability management: track relevant CVEs, prioritize based on exposure and criticality, coordinate patching, and document remediation
- Assist with access reviews, audit preparation, and compliance documentation aligned with corporate security standards
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma combined with 7+ years of hands-on experience in a systems administration or infrastructure role in a corporate environment
- Solid grounding in Windows Server administration: Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and certificate services

- Strong grasp of networking fundamentals: the OSI model, TCP/IP, routing and switching, firewall policy design, and network segmentation strategy
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure issues methodically, working from first principles rather than platform-specific muscle memory
- Conceptual and practical understanding of hybrid identity and device management in a cloud-connected environment
- Disciplined documentation habits and comfort working within change management processes
- Able to work independently, manage competing priorities, and translate technical context clearly for non-technical stakeholders
- Travel is primarily regional and expected to be approximately 10%, with occasional overnight stays. The ability to respond to urgent needs at any site on short notice is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer technology or similar with at least 3 years of hands-on experience in a systems administration or infrastructure role in a corporate environment
- Experience supporting multi-site, multi-domain environments
- Understanding of endpoint detection and response concepts: alert triage, threat classification, and incident escalation workflows
- Scripting or automation ability — comfortable writing scripts to eliminate manual toil and reduce human error
- Experience contributing to infrastructure projects from scoping through delivery, including post-implementation documentation
