IT Engineer Jobs in Colorado: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a it engineer in Colorado?
Most it engineer positions in Colorado require a bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a closely related field. Colorado does not issue a state-specific license for it engineers, so hiring decisions center on education, vendor certifications like CompTIA, Cisco, or Microsoft credentials, and demonstrated hands-on experience. Candidates targeting the state's large defense and aerospace sector should also be prepared to pursue or hold a federal security clearance early in their career.
Which companies hire it engineers in Colorado?
Companies currently hiring it engineers in Colorado include Lockheed Martin, CommonSpirit Health, and SAIC, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Colorado's concentration of defense, aerospace, and telecommunications employers means many of the largest and most consistent openings come from contractors and carriers with long-term operations along the Front Range.
Which Colorado cities have the most it engineer jobs?
Colorado Springs, Denver, and Littleton have the most it engineer openings in Colorado. Denver's size and density of tech, finance, and healthcare employers drive the largest share of listings, while Colorado Springs benefits from the heavy presence of military installations and defense contractors, and Boulder's research university ecosystem and concentration of technology companies generate strong demand for specialized infrastructure and systems roles.
Are there remote it engineer jobs in Colorado?
Yes, and more than many technical fields, because a meaningful portion of it engineering work involves systems management and cloud administration that can be done off-site. About 71% of it engineer openings tied to Colorado are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting genuine flexibility across the sector. Roles focused on cloud infrastructure, network monitoring, and systems administration are the most likely to allow fully remote arrangements, while on-site work is more common for hardware, data center, and clearance-required positions.
How can I get hired as a it engineer in Colorado with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a help desk or IT support role, which large Colorado employers use as a pipeline for junior it engineers. Organizations such as UCHealth, the City and County of Denver, and mid-size defense subcontractors regularly hire associate IT technicians without deep experience. Earning a CompTIA A+ or Network+ certification before applying gives candidates a measurable edge, and community colleges such as Community College of Denver offer affordable IT programs that align directly with those credentials.
Where can I find and apply to it engineer jobs in Colorado?
You can find and apply to it engineer jobs in Colorado on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the roles that fit your background, review the requirements, and apply directly to the ones that match your experience and location preferences.
