Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding J-1 Visa Sponsorship in Account Executive
Align your DS-2019 training plan with sales competencies
Your designated sponsor issues the DS-2019 and requires a detailed training plan. Map your Account Executive objectives, such as pipeline management, CRM workflows, and client acquisition, to specific learning outcomes before approaching any host employer.
Confirm the host employer qualifies as a training site
Not every company can host a J-1 Trainee. The host must have a structured environment for skills transfer, not just day-to-day work output. Verify that your prospective employer has an HR department or designated supervisor willing to sign off on monthly progress evaluations.
Search for J-1-open Account Executive roles on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter for Account Executive positions at U.S. employers that have indicated openness to exchange visitor placements, saving you the time of screening hundreds of listings that offer no J-1 pathway.
Distinguish Intern from Trainee eligibility before applying
The J-1 Intern category requires current enrollment in a degree program, while the Trainee category suits graduates or professionals with at least one year of relevant experience. Applying under the wrong category delays your DS-2019 and can void an offer.
Check whether the role triggers a two-year home residency requirement
Some J-1 participants are subject to the two-year home-country return requirement under Section 212(e) of the INA. If your government or home country funded your exchange, confirm your obligation with your designated sponsor before accepting an Account Executive offer.
Negotiate offer timing around DS-2019 processing windows
Designated sponsors typically need two to four weeks to issue a DS-2019 after receiving a completed training plan and host employer agreement. Build that lead time into your start-date conversation so the employer doesn't rescind the offer while documents are in review.

Find Account Executive JobsAccount Executive J-1 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Which J-1 program category covers Account Executive roles?
Account Executive positions fall under the J-1 Trainee category for graduates and early-career professionals with at least one year of relevant business or sales experience. Current students completing a degree program may qualify under the J-1 Intern category instead. Your designated sponsor determines which category applies based on your qualifications and training objectives.
Who actually sponsors the J-1 visa for an Account Executive position?
The visa sponsor is a U.S. Department of State-designated organization, such as Cultural Vistas, AIPT, or IIE, not the hiring company itself. The employer you work for is called the host organization. The designated sponsor issues your DS-2019, approves your training plan, and monitors compliance throughout your exchange period. The host employer does not hold sponsorship authority.
Can I use Migrate Mate to find Account Executive roles with J-1 pathways?
Yes. Migrate Mate lets you search for Account Executive and business development positions at U.S. employers that are open to hosting J-1 exchange visitors. Filtering by role and visa category surfaces relevant opportunities without requiring you to manually screen each company's sponsorship posture or contact HR teams cold.
What does a J-1 training plan need to include for a sales role?
Your designated sponsor requires a structured training plan that outlines specific learning objectives tied to the Account Executive function, including CRM tool proficiency, territory management, negotiation techniques, and client relationship skills. The plan must detail the phase-by-phase progression of training activities, the supervising employee's qualifications, and measurable performance benchmarks at each stage.
Does the two-year home residency requirement affect Account Executive J-1 participants?
It can. The two-year home-country return requirement under INA Section 212(e) applies if your government or a U.S. government agency financed your exchange, or if your home country's skills list includes your occupation. Account Executive roles in business and sales are sometimes listed on those skills lists. Confirm your status directly with your designated sponsor and review your DS-2019 annotation before accepting any offer.
