Labor Relations Consultant Jobs in Hawaii: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a labor relations consultant in Hawaii?
Hawaii does not require a state-issued license to work as a labor relations consultant, so entry depends on education and demonstrated expertise. Most Hawaii employers expect at least a bachelor's degree in labor relations, human resources, or a related field, with a master's or a professional HR certification strengthening a candidacy significantly. Familiarity with the Hawaii Employment Relations Act and experience with public-sector or hospitality union environments is the practical threshold most hiring managers apply.
Which companies hire labor relations consultants in Hawaii?
Companies currently hiring labor relations consultants in Hawaii include State Farm, UHA, and Qureos, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hawaii's public-sector agencies, major resort operators, and healthcare systems tend to post the most consistent openings given their large unionized workforces.
Which Hawaii cities have the most labor relations consultant jobs?
Honolulu, Kahului, and Princeville account for the largest share of labor relations consultant openings in Hawaii. Honolulu anchors demand as the seat of state government and the largest concentration of hotel, healthcare, and private-sector employers, while Hilo and Kailua-Kona reflect public agency hiring and the hospitality industry on the Big Island.
Are there remote labor relations consultant jobs in Hawaii?
Yes, but they're relatively limited, because much of the work involves on-site contract negotiations, grievance meetings, and direct engagement with union representatives. About 67% of labor relations consultant openings tied to Hawaii are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with remote arrangements most common for policy analysis, contract drafting, and compliance review functions that do not require physical presence at a facility.
How can I get hired as a labor relations consultant in Hawaii with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a human resources generalist or HR coordinator role at a large Hawaii employer, then moving laterally once you have exposure to union grievances or contract administration. The Hawaii Department of Human Resources Development and large hospital systems such as Kaiser Permanente Hawaii periodically hire HR associates who support labor relations teams. Completing a SHRM certification or taking courses in collective bargaining through the University of Hawaii's Shidler College of Business signals readiness to employers who otherwise prefer direct experience.
Where can I find and apply to labor relations consultant jobs in Hawaii?
You can find and apply to labor relations consultant jobs in Hawaii on Migrate Mate, which lists current Hawaii openings updated regularly. Search the listings, identify the roles that fit your background and target employers, and apply directly to each one through the posting.
