Laboratory Assistant Jobs in Delaware: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a laboratory assistant in Delaware?
Most Delaware employers require at minimum a high school diploma with science coursework, though an associate degree in clinical or biological sciences gives candidates a clear hiring advantage. Delaware does not issue a state-specific license for laboratory assistants, but clinical settings often expect nationally recognized credentials such as a phlebotomy certification through organizations like the National Phlebotomy Association. Delaware Technical Community College offers relevant programs that align closely with what local employers look for.
Which companies hire laboratory assistants in Delaware?
Delaware laboratory assistant roles are posted by Chemours, ChristianaCare, and Beebe Healthcare and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Delaware's concentration of health systems and pharmaceutical companies means clinical and research lab positions turn over regularly throughout the year.
Which Delaware cities have the most laboratory assistant jobs?
Newark, Dover, and Lewes account for the largest share of laboratory assistant openings in Delaware. Wilmington leads because it anchors the state's largest hospital networks and several major pharmaceutical and financial sector research operations, while Newark draws openings tied to University of Delaware-affiliated research and nearby ChristianaCare facilities, and Dover sees steady clinical lab demand from Bayhealth and state government health programs.
Are there remote laboratory assistant jobs in Delaware?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of laboratory assistant openings tied to Delaware are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how hands-on most of the work is. The portions of the role most compatible with remote arrangements are data entry, laboratory result review, and administrative coordination rather than specimen handling or equipment operation.
How can I get hired as a laboratory assistant in Delaware with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to clinical lab aide or specimen processor roles at Delaware health systems like ChristianaCare or Bayhealth, which regularly hire candidates with a science background but no formal lab experience. Delaware Technical Community College's phlebotomy and medical laboratory technician programs provide credentials that open these doors quickly. Lateral moves from roles like medical assistant, patient services representative, or sterile processing technician are recognized by Delaware clinical employers as relevant adjacent experience.
Where can I find and apply to laboratory assistant jobs in Delaware?
You can find and apply to laboratory assistant jobs in Delaware on Migrate Mate, which lists current Delaware openings across clinical, research, and industrial settings. Find the roles that fit your background and apply directly to the ones that match.
