Laboratory Jobs in Delaware: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a laboratory professional in Delaware?
Clinical laboratory scientists and technicians in Delaware must hold a license issued by the Delaware Board of Medical Licensure and Discipline, which requires an accredited degree in medical laboratory science and passage of a national exam such as the ASCP Board of Certification. Research and industrial laboratory roles typically require a bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant science field without additional state licensure, though certifications from ASCP or the American Chemical Society strengthen candidacy significantly.
Which companies hire laboratorys in Delaware?
Employers hiring laboratorys in Delaware right now include Chemours, ChristianaCare, and Beebe Healthcare, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Delaware's concentration of pharmaceutical, chemical, and health system employers means openings frequently appear across both large corporate campuses in the Wilmington corridor and clinical settings throughout the state.
Which Delaware cities have the most laboratory jobs?
Newark, Dover, and Lewes account for the greatest concentration of laboratory openings in Delaware. Wilmington drives volume through its dense cluster of pharmaceutical and chemical headquarters, Newark benefits from proximity to the University of Delaware and bioscience employers, and Dover draws clinical laboratory postings from state government health agencies and regional hospital systems.
Are there remote laboratory jobs in Delaware?
Yes, but they're rare. Most laboratory roles require physical presence to operate instruments, handle specimens, or maintain compliance with on-site safety protocols. About 0% of laboratory openings tied to Delaware are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions tend to be in data analysis, regulatory affairs support, or laboratory informatics rather than bench science or clinical testing.
How can I get hired as a laboratory professional in Delaware with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a laboratory assistant or technician aide role at a health system such as ChristianaCare or Bayhealth, both of which hire candidates without prior professional experience and provide on-the-job training. Completing a phlebotomy certificate or a CLIA-waived testing course at Delaware Technical Community College can open the door to clinical settings, while recent science graduates targeting pharmaceutical or chemical employers in Wilmington often enter as lab technicians or quality control associates before advancing.
Where can I find and apply to laboratory jobs in Delaware?
You can find and apply to laboratory jobs in Delaware on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers across the state. Search the listings to find roles that match your specialty and experience level, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
