Tips for Your Leasing Professional Job Search
Quantify your leasing conversion results
Hiring managers want to see occupancy rates you've maintained, not just duties you held. Pull your closing ratios, renewal percentages, and the number of units you managed from past performance reviews before you write a single bullet on your resume.
List your property management software by name
Yardi, RealPage, Entrata, and MRI appear repeatedly in job postings. If you've used any of them, name each platform explicitly on your resume. A generic phrase like 'property management software' won't pass an applicant tracking system scan.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists leasing professional openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Target lease-up communities strategically
New construction properties list heavily during pre-leasing phases, often three to six months before opening. Search for communities in permitting or construction news in your target city, then watch for their postings, because those roles fill fast and reward candidates with lease-up experience.
Prepare a tour walkthrough for your interview
Many leasing interviews include a mock tour or a role-play closing scenario. Practice handling objections around price and move-in timelines out loud, not just in your head. Interviewers are assessing your sales instincts, not only your product knowledge.
Negotiate your leasing bonus structure clearly
Base pay is often just part of the total package. Before accepting an offer, ask how per-lease bonuses are calculated, when they're paid out, and whether renewal leases count. Getting the commission structure in writing protects you if team leadership changes.
Leasing Professional Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most leasing professionals?
The companies hiring the most leasing professionals right now include Cortland, Rangewater Real Estate, and Cushman & Wakefield, with the largest share of openings in Florida, Virginia, and Texas, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Large national property management groups and real estate investment trusts tend to post the highest volume of openings consistently.
How many leasing professional jobs are remote?
About 1% of leasing professional openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, since most roles require on-site tours and in-person lease signings. Administrative and corporate leasing coordinator roles are the most likely to offer remote or hybrid arrangements, while front-line leasing consultant positions are almost entirely on-site.
How do you become a leasing professional?
Start by getting a high school diploma or equivalent, then pursue an entry-level leasing consultant or leasing assistant role at a residential community to build hands-on experience. Earn the National Apartment Leasing Professional designation through the National Apartment Association to strengthen your credentials. Learning a major property management platform like Yardi or RealPage makes you a more competitive candidate at every stage.
Can you get hired as a leasing professional with no experience?
Yes, many property management companies hire candidates with no direct leasing experience if they have a background in retail sales, hospitality, or customer service, because the core skill is guiding people to a decision. Highlight any role where you met quotas, handled objections, or built rapport with customers. Applying to smaller independent communities or student housing properties often gives first-time candidates the best entry point.
What does the leasing professional interview process look like?
Most leasing interviews begin with a phone or video screen focused on your sales background and availability, followed by an on-site interview that often includes a property tour or a mock leasing scenario. Expect questions about how you handle objections, your approach to following up with prospects, and how you've maintained occupancy in past roles. Some employers conduct a second round with a regional manager before extending an offer.
Where can I find and apply to leasing professional jobs?
You can find and apply to leasing professional jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Search for roles that match your experience level and preferred property type, then apply directly to each listing that fits. New openings are added regularly, so checking back often gives you the best shot at catching postings early.
