- Represent the needs of artists and labels in key product and business decisions, helping teams balance creator, listener, and Spotify priorities.
- Navigate a complex music ecosystem, including relationships with labels and distributors, legal and licensing considerations, and dependencies across Spotify.

Tips for Your Head Of Product Job Search
Quantify product impact on your resume
Hiring managers for head of product roles want to see outcomes you owned, not tasks you managed. Replace vague descriptions with metrics tied to activation, retention, revenue, or ship velocity. Generic bullets about roadmap ownership won't differentiate you from the dozens of other applicants.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists head of product openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Tailor your narrative to each company stage
Early-stage companies want someone who can build process from scratch. Late-stage or public companies want someone who can coordinate across large, siloed teams. Read the job description for signals about company maturity and reframe your experience to match that specific challenge before applying.
Build a portfolio of product decisions
A head of product role requires demonstrating judgment, not just execution. Prepare two or three case studies that walk through a hard prioritization call, a failed bet, or a strategic pivot you led. Panels often spend more time on your reasoning than on your outcomes.
Prepare for a product critique round
Many head of product interview loops include a live product critique or teardown of the company's own product. Practice critiquing products in your target domain out loud, covering strategy, user problems, and what you would change and why, in under ten minutes.
Negotiate scope alongside compensation
When you reach the offer stage, clarify the reporting structure, team size, and budget authority before accepting. A head of product title at one company can mean managing two PMs with no engineering influence, while at another it means owning the entire roadmap and a direct line to the CEO.
Head Of Product Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most head of products?
The companies hiring the most head of products right now include Google, Plaid, and TikTok, with the largest share of openings in California, New York, and Texas, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Demand is highest in SaaS, fintech, and healthtech companies that are scaling product teams.
How many head of product jobs are remote?
About 60% of head of product openings are fully remote or hybrid as of September 2026, making it one of the more location-flexible senior roles in product. Platform, growth, and B2B SaaS positions tend to have the highest share of remote or distributed arrangements compared to consumer hardware or in-person retail product roles.
How do you become a head of product?
Most heads of product start as individual-contributor product managers, move into a senior PM or group PM role where they manage a full product area, and then step into leading other PMs. Building a clear track of cross-functional ownership, shipping product with measurable outcomes, and mentoring junior PMs strengthens your case. Pursuing a role at a smaller company first can accelerate the title transition.
Can you get hired as a head of product with little experience?
It is possible at an early-stage startup where the title covers a broad scope with a small team, rather than managing a large product organization. Candidates who transition from technical program management, engineering leadership, or a strong solo-founder background can sometimes make this jump. Demonstrating that you can own a product strategy end to end, even on a small scale, matters more than years in a PM title.
What does the head of product interview process look like?
A typical head of product interview loop includes a recruiter screen, a hiring manager conversation focused on your product philosophy and leadership style, a panel with cross-functional partners such as engineering and design leads, a product strategy or roadmap presentation, and a final executive interview. Some companies add a live product critique or a written case study to assess judgment and communication under pressure.
Where can I find and apply to head of product jobs?
