Tips for Your Solution Manager Job Search
Tailor your resume to the engagement model
Solution manager roles in pre-sales read very differently from implementation or customer success. Reframe the same experience to emphasize discovery and scoping for pre-sales openings, or delivery ownership and adoption metrics for post-sales roles before you apply.
Quantify business outcomes, not just tasks
Hiring managers for solution manager roles want proof you moved the needle. Replace phrases like 'managed client relationships' with the revenue influenced, renewal rate improved, or time-to-value shortened. Even rough figures carry more weight than a list of responsibilities.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists solution manager openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Target companies mid-product-launch cycle
Solution manager headcount tends to spike when a company releases a new product tier or enters a new vertical. Watch for recent funding announcements or product expansion news, then search those companies' open roles before the posting gets stale.
Prepare a structured discovery conversation walkthrough
Many solution manager interviews include a live or recorded roleplay where you run a discovery call with a mock customer. Practice a repeatable framework that moves from business problem to technical fit in under ten minutes, and be ready to pivot when the interviewer throws a curveball.
Negotiate scope, not just base pay
Solution manager offers often include territory size, account tier, or quota structure that affects your actual earning potential more than the base salary does. Know which levers matter for your specific track before you get to the offer conversation.
Solution Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most solution managers?
The companies hiring the most solution managers right now include TikTok, EY, and Chewy, with the largest share of openings in Texas, California, and Washington, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Enterprise software and cloud infrastructure firms consistently account for the largest volume of active postings.
How many solution manager jobs are remote?
About 72% of solution manager openings are fully remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the role's heavy reliance on video-based demos and virtual discovery calls. Pre-sales and customer success specializations tend to carry the highest share of remote-eligible postings, while implementation-focused roles more often require on-site or regional travel.
How do you become a solution manager?
Most solution managers move into the role from adjacent positions in sales engineering, technical account management, consulting, or customer success. Build hands-on fluency with at least one enterprise software platform, practice structured discovery and demo techniques, and pursue a vendor certification in your target product category. Roles with smaller deal sizes or mid-market accounts are typically the most accessible entry points.
Can you get a solution manager job with little experience?
Yes, associate or junior solution manager roles exist specifically for candidates earlier in their career, and companies often hire from inside their own support, onboarding, or SDR teams. Demonstrating product fluency, clear communication in a mock discovery call, and a working knowledge of your target industry can offset a limited formal title history when you apply.
What does the solution manager interview process look like?
A typical solution manager interview runs three to four rounds. Expect an initial recruiter screen, a hiring manager conversation focused on your discovery and qualification approach, and a live or recorded product presentation or roleplay with a panel. Final rounds often include a business case or territory plan exercise and a conversation with a cross-functional stakeholder such as a sales leader or product manager.
Where can I find and apply to solution manager jobs?
You can find and apply to solution manager jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from companies across the United States. Search the available roles, identify the ones that match your background and target industry, and apply directly to each listing.
