Licensed Practical Nurse Jobs in Buffalo: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a licensed practical nurse job in Buffalo?
Focus your search on Buffalo's Medical Campus district, which anchors the city's largest concentration of clinical employers, then expand to long-term care and rehabilitation facilities in South Buffalo and the Cheektowaga suburbs. Candidates with experience in wound care, IV therapy, or geriatric populations move fastest in this market. Shifts in correctional health and home health agencies also see consistent openings and tend to hire quickly.
Which companies hire licensed practical nurses in Buffalo?
Employers hiring licensed practical nurses in Buffalo right now include Kaleida Health, Catholic Health System, and Hospice Buffalo, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Buffalo's hiring mix runs from large academic medical systems and regional hospital networks to independently operated skilled nursing facilities and visiting nurse programs serving the broader Erie County area.
Are there remote licensed practical nurse jobs in Buffalo?
Remote work is uncommon for licensed practical nurses given the hands-on, patient-facing nature of the role. About 0% of licensed practical nurse openings tied to Buffalo are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions typically involve care coordination, telephonic triage, or utilization review functions rather than direct bedside care.
How can I get a licensed practical nurse job in Buffalo with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Buffalo is through skilled nursing and long-term care facilities, which hire new graduates and candidates with limited clinical hours more readily than hospital systems. Look for new-grad residency tracks at Erie County Medical Center and apply to home health agencies that provide structured field orientation. CNA experience at a Buffalo facility often creates an inside track when you complete your LPN credential.
Which industries hire the most licensed practical nurses in Buffalo?
Most licensed practical nurse openings in Buffalo sit in Healthcare & Medical Services and Non-Profit & Social Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Buffalo's aging population and the density of post-acute and long-term care facilities across Erie and Niagara counties drive consistent demand across those sectors year-round.
