Mammography Technologist Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a mammography technologist in Massachusetts?
To work as a mammography technologist in Massachusetts, you must hold an active radiologic technologist license issued by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Radiation Therapy, Radiography, and Nuclear Medicine, with a mammography authorization. You also need ARRT certification in radiography plus the mammography specialty credential. Most roles require completion of an accredited radiologic technology program, followed by clinical hours in mammography to meet state and MQSA requirements.
How much do mammography technologists make in Massachusetts?
Mammography technologists in Massachusetts earn a median of about $103,620 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $75,350 for the lowest 10% to over $131,940 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire mammography technologists in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring mammography technologists in Massachusetts right now include Optum, Beth Israel Lahey Health, and Valley Medical, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Massachusetts's dense concentration of academic medical systems and affiliated outpatient imaging centers means openings appear regularly across both large hospital campuses and community-based breast health clinics throughout the state.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most mammography technologist jobs?
The cities with the most mammography technologist openings in Massachusetts are Boston, Worcester, and Framingham. Boston leads because of its high concentration of academic medical centers and cancer institutes, while Worcester and Springfield reflect the large regional hospital systems, such as UMass Memorial and Baystate Health, that anchor breast imaging services across central and western Massachusetts.
Are there remote mammography technologist jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, but they're rare. Mammography technologists work directly with patients using specialized imaging equipment, making the role almost entirely hands-on and on-site by nature. About 0% of mammography technologist openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those limited opportunities are generally in quality assurance review, MQSA compliance consulting, or medical imaging education rather than direct patient care.
How can I get hired as a mammography technologist in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing a Massachusetts-accredited radiologic technology program and then applying to new-graduate training tracks at large systems such as Mass General Brigham or Beth Israel Deaconess, which offer structured mammography orientation for technologists transitioning from general radiography or fluoroscopy. Gaining ARRT mammography specialty certification as early as eligible significantly strengthens your candidacy, and lateral moves from general rad tech or ultrasound roles are a common door into dedicated breast imaging positions across Massachusetts community hospitals.
Where can I find and apply to mammography technologist jobs in Massachusetts?
You can find and apply to mammography technologist jobs in Massachusetts on Migrate Mate, which lists current Massachusetts openings. Find the roles that fit your experience and credentials and apply directly to the employers posting them.
