About the Job You’re Considering
At Capgemini Invent, our Data Driven Transformation (DDT) team makes AI work at scale by combining data science and engineering with business consulting. We build context-driven analytics and GenAI/agentic systems that reflect how decisions and work actually happen—grounded in semantic layers, strong data foundations, and governance embedded in decision flows. With a builder-advisor (“forward deployed”) mindset, DDT delivers production-ready impact across operations and customer domains, redefining what enterprise AI advisory looks like in practice.
Your Role
As a Managing Consultant, Contextual Systems, you will lead the end-to-end design and delivery of enterprise context platforms that enable AI systems to understand and operate on business knowledge at scale. You will own the architecture vision for a client’s semantic and knowledge layer, manage delivery teams, and ensure solutions meet both technical standards and business requirements.
You will serve as a trusted advisor to VP-level client leaders, including data architects, CDOs, and engineering executives, owning the technical relationship and guiding platform decisions. Operating with significant independence, you are accountable for engagement quality, team performance, and client satisfaction.
In addition to client delivery, you will contribute to account growth and practice development, helping shape DDT’s contextual systems methodology, reusable accelerators, and architectural standards.
Core responsibilities include:
- Leading end-to-end design and delivery of enterprise context platforms for major clients
- Architecting knowledge graph solutions, semantic layers, and context store infrastructure at scale
- Owning technical relationships with client data, AI, and engineering leadership
- Establishing platform governance standards, versioning protocols, and reusable architectural patterns
- Managing delivery teams to ensure quality, timeliness, and alignment with client objectives
- Contributing to DDT’s contextual systems methodology and accelerator library
- Driving account expansion by identifying adjacent platform and architecture opportunities
Your Skills + Experience
You bring strong AI literacy, including core AI and generative AI concepts, and understand how these capabilities apply to enterprise transformation. You are able to identify and support AI-enabled opportunities that improve business outcomes and delivery effectiveness, and you have experience working in AI-augmented ways of working to enhance research, analysis, and solution development. You collaborate effectively across strategy, technology, data, and design to enable AI-driven solutions, with a solid understanding of responsible AI principles such as ethics, privacy, security, and governance. You demonstrate curiosity and a continuous learning mindset around emerging AI capabilities and their practical application in client environments.
Required:
- 7–9 years of experience in data or knowledge architecture, with enterprise-scale delivery experience
- Deep expertise in semantic layers, knowledge graphs, and metadata management
- Proven experience leading technical delivery teams in consulting or client-facing environments
- Strong understanding of AI/ML integration patterns and governed data infrastructure
- Demonstrated ability to architect platforms designed to scale and endure beyond the engagement
Beneficial experience:
- Experience across cloud data platforms such as BigQuery or Snowflake
- Familiarity with governance and catalog tooling (e.g., Collibra, Atlan)
- Interest in applied AI, contextual systems, and agent-enabled architectures

Tips for Your Managing Consultant Job Search
Quantify your engagement outcomes specifically
Clients and hiring partners want to see what changed because you were in the room. Replace vague accomplishments with delivery metrics: cost reductions achieved, timelines compressed, or revenue influenced on specific engagements. Vague claims about 'driving results' get screened out fast.
Tailor your resume to the engagement model
Managing consultant roles differ sharply between project-based boutiques and retainer-driven practices. Read each job listing carefully for language around client portfolios versus defined engagements, then mirror that framing in how you describe your own work history.
Target firms by their methodology, not just sector
Consulting shops hire for cultural and methodological fit as much as industry expertise. Research whether a firm runs agile sprints, waterfall delivery, or proprietary frameworks before applying, and surface your relevant experience with that model in your cover materials.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists managing consultant openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Prepare a structured case for every interview
Most managing consultant interviews include a live case component alongside behavioral questions. Practice structuring ambiguous business problems out loud using a consistent framework, because interviewers evaluate your communication and logic under pressure, not just whether you reach the right answer.
Negotiate scope and travel expectations, not just pay
In consulting, travel requirements and project rotation policies can shift a role's day-to-day dramatically. During offer conversations, ask directly about expected client-site days, geographic coverage, and bench time so you're comparing roles on the full picture.
Managing Consultant Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most managing consultants?
The companies hiring the most managing consultants right now include Capgemini, BDO, and Mastercard, with the largest share of openings in New York, California, and Illinois, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Demand is concentrated in firms serving financial services, healthcare, and government clients.
How many managing consultant jobs are remote?
About 23% of managing consultant openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, though client-site expectations vary widely by firm and engagement type. Strategy and change management sub-specializations tend to offer more remote flexibility than operational or implementation-heavy roles, which typically require regular on-site presence.
How do you become a managing consultant?
Most managing consultants start in analyst or associate roles at a consulting firm, then advance by leading progressively larger engagements and client relationships. Building deep expertise in a specific industry or functional area accelerates promotion, as does developing a reputation for delivering measurable outcomes. An MBA from a target program can open doors at major firms, but boutique and independent practices often weight demonstrated delivery experience more heavily than credentials alone.
Can you get hired as a managing consultant with limited experience?
Boutique firms and internal consulting teams at large corporations are more open to candidates who come from adjacent roles in operations, strategy, finance, or project management than the major global firms tend to be. Highlighting any client-facing or cross-functional leadership work, even from outside formal consulting, helps close the gap. Targeting firms in industries where you already have deep subject matter expertise is the most practical path if your consulting experience is thin.
What does the managing consultant interview process look like?
The process typically runs three to four rounds and includes a recruiter screen, a structured competency interview covering client management and leadership examples, a live or take-home case study, and a final-round conversation with a senior partner or practice leader. Firms assess both your analytical rigor and your ability to communicate recommendations clearly to non-technical audiences. Some boutiques add a presentation component where you walk through a past engagement or a prepared solution to a sample client problem.
Where can I find and apply to managing consultant jobs?
You can find and apply to managing consultant jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Find the roles that fit your experience and specialization from the listings on this page and apply directly to each one that matches.
