Job Description
Vice President, Global Growth Director – Defense Prime/OEM Facilities & Vertical Construction
This is a high-impact leadership role within AECOM's Design Practice, responsible for defining and executing the US strategy for engagement with Defense Primes / OEM clients as it pertains to vertical construction, facilities delivery, and architectural and engineering design. This includes manufacturing and final assembly facilities, hangars and MRO facilities, training facilities, SCIF/SAPF and other ICD 705-compliant secure facilities, and program office space delivered at Defense Primes / OEM sites and government installations.
The position carries accountability for client relationships, growth strategy, pipeline development, capture, and delivery performance across AECOM’s Design practice. It combines strategic leadership with hands-on account execution to drive growth, strengthen client partnerships, and deliver consistent performance.
The primary role focuses on the U.S. market, but will also involve interaction with other AECOM regions including the UK, Continental Europe, Middle East, and Australia/New Zealand. This role is focused on Defense Primes / OEM clients (Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, BAE, RTX, etc.) — candidates with hands-on experience delivering vertical construction and facilities projects for these clients, at their own sites or at government-owned/contractor-operated facilities, will be looked upon most favorably. A background that spans a role with defense Primes / OEMs, followed by a career in A&E vertical construction delivery, is an ideal profile for this position.
This position will report to the AECOM’s Global Design Practice SVP, Head of Strategy & Growth, and will work closely with our US DOW Team and global defense leaders across the company.
We welcome applications from candidates who are already performing in a similar role, as well as those who have the experience, capability, and ambition to take the next logical step in their career progression into this position.
Qualifications
- Candidates must have a background in architecture, engineering, or a related A/E discipline with direct delivery experience on vertical construction projects (e.g., building design, building engineering, planning, or program/construction management) for Defense Primes / OEM clients — pure IT, cybersecurity, digital systems integration, or general business development backgrounds without hands-on A&E design or delivery experience will not meet the qualifications for this role.
- BA/BS +20 years’ experience or equivalent, including 4 years of leadership experience
- Due to the nature of the work, U.S. citizenship is required
- Proven experience working with Defense Primes / OEM clients and US DOW agencies on facilities and vertical construction programs (e.g., manufacturing, and final assembly facilities, hangars and MRO facilities, training facilities, SCIF/SAPF facilities, barracks)
- Commercial knowledge of the Defense Primes / OEM clients industry in relation to infrastructure needs, contracts, fees, and industry needs
- Leadership experience operating across geographies and multidisciplinary teams
- Demonstrated success leading accounts, complex pursuits, and multi-region delivery
Preferred background:
- Commercially astute, with executive stakeholder engagement skills
- Industrial background & experience in advanced manufacturing
- Direct project experience on Weapon System Bed downs, SCIF/SAPF or other ICD 705-compliant facilities, training facilities, hangars, MRO facilities, final assembly buildings, or program office space delivered for Defense Primes / OEM clients
Additional Information
- Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position
- Relocation is not available for this position

Tips for Your VP Sales Job Search
Quantify revenue impact on your resume
Boards and hiring committees for vp sales roles want numbers, not narratives. Replace phrases like 'grew the team' with the actual ARR added, quota attainment percentage, or headcount scaled so your resume clears an executive-level screen immediately.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists vp sales openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Tailor your pitch to the sales motion
A PLG company, a field-sales enterprise vendor, and a channel-led distributor all hire vp sales but need different instincts. Read the job description for the dominant motion and mirror their language about cycle length, deal size, and buyer persona in your cover materials.
Build a brief board-ready pipeline narrative
Many vp sales finalists are asked to present a 90-day plan to a committee or board observer. Draft one before your first interview so you can reference it naturally. It signals executive readiness before you're even asked.
Prepare comp structure questions before negotiating
VP sales offers involve base, variable, accelerators, and sometimes equity, and the mix varies widely by stage. Know which levers matter most to you before the offer call so you can negotiate the structure, not just the headline number.
Follow up with a deal-story reference
After a final-round interview, send a short note that names one specific deal or turnaround from your background that ties directly to a challenge the panel raised. It reinforces recall and shows you were listening, not just presenting.
VP Sales Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most vp saless?
The companies hiring the most vp saless right now include JPMorganChase, Citi, and icapital, with the largest share of openings in New York, California, and Texas, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Hiring activity tends to concentrate in SaaS, healthtech, and fintech, where revenue leadership roles turn over most frequently.
How many vp sales jobs are remote?
About 84% of vp sales openings are fully remote or hybrid as of September 2026, making it one of the more remote-accessible executive roles. Sub-areas like inside sales leadership, RevOps-aligned vp roles, and SMB-focused teams tend to offer the most location flexibility compared to field-sales or channel-heavy positions.
How do you become a vp sales?
Most vp sales leaders progress from individual contributor roles through sales management before reaching the VP level. Build a record of consistent quota attainment as a rep, then move into team leadership as a manager or director. Develop cross-functional fluency with marketing and product, and take on increasing revenue responsibility at each step until you can own a full go-to-market function.
How do you get hired as a vp sales with little experience at that level?
If you're a high-performing director or senior manager, target Series A and Series B companies where the vp sales role is being created for the first time rather than filled with a seasoned executive. Founders at that stage often prioritize a candidate who can sell alongside the team over someone with a long VP title history. Come in with a clear 90-day ramp plan and a pipeline methodology you've already validated.
What does the vp sales interview process look like?
The process typically starts with a recruiter or hiring manager screen, followed by a deeper conversation with the CEO or CRO about go-to-market philosophy. Most companies then ask for a territory plan, a pipeline review, or a mock board presentation. Final rounds often include a panel with marketing, product, and finance stakeholders, and reference calls focused specifically on revenue outcomes you delivered.
Where can I find and apply to vp sales jobs?
You can find and apply to vp sales jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to each listing from the same place.
