Group/Division

The Semiconductor Products and Customers (Semi PC) business unit designs, builds and sells KLA’s product portfolio to help chip manufacturers meet high-quality standards for technologies like AI, data centers, automotive and electronic devices. Our inspection, metrology, and analytics systems detect and monitor defects across logic and memory chips, specialty semiconductors, wafers, reticles, advanced packaging, process equipment and materials. We also develop technologies for specialty processes, IC substrates, and PCB manufacturing, including etch and deposition, component inspection, and imaging and analytics. KLA's Central Engineering organization is made up of nine Centers of Excellence (CoEs) spanning disciplines like automation, motion control, sensors, platform design, and packaging. Each CoE contributes not only technical deliverables but also deep expertise, best practices, and advanced tools that elevate both what we build—and how we build it.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, you will play a key part in advancing business priorities by delivering high-impact work across your area of expertise. We are looking for a mechanical engineer to join KLA’s Electronics Rack & PDU Engineering Center in Ann Arbor, MI! Our team designs and develops advanced electromechanical assemblies that power high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure for KLA products, enabling innovative AI-driven image data processing. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and delivery of next-generation rack and power distribution solutions aligned with KLA’s compute and rack roadmaps. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong systems-level thinking, and leadership potential, thriving in a fast-paced environment where managing complex projects under aggressive timelines is key.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management & Execution:

- Lead and deliver engineering projects for rack and PDU systems, including high-power rack solutions.
- Drive schedules and deliverables, ensuring alignment with program milestones and strategic objectives.

Design & Systems-Level Thinking:

- Apply comprehensive design principles to integrate mechanical, electrical, thermal, and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with multi-functional teams to develop robust, scalable solutions for HPC infrastructure.

Stakeholder Communication & Relationship Management:

- Act as the primary liaison with internal teams, suppliers, and external partners.
- Clearly communicate project status, risks, trade-offs, and mitigation strategies to leadership and stakeholders.

Production & Sustaining Support:

- Oversee the transition from design to production, ensuring quality and on-time product shipment.
- Solve manufacturing and assembly issues, and resolve field escalations or complex customer requests as needed.

Technical Mentorship:

- Mentor junior engineers and actively contribute to team growth and capability building.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Doctorate (Academic) Degree and 0 years related work experience; Master's Level Degree and related work experience of 3 years; Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 5 years.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Technical Expertise:

- Solid foundation in mechanical design and analysis, including solid mechanics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, mechanics of materials, and finite element analysis (FEA).
- Proficiency in CAD tools (Creo preferred) and FEA software (Ansys preferred).
- Hands-on experience in electromechanical assembly design, ideally at the rack-system level.
- Familiarity with cooling technologies for server racks highly desirable.

Project Management Skills:

- Demonstrated ability to manage projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proven track record of driving schedules and deliverables under compressed timelines.
- Strong stakeholder communication and relationship-building capabilities.
- Knowledge of production processes and experience with install base issue resolution.
