Medical Assistant Jobs in San Jose: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a medical assistant job in San Jose?
The most direct path in San Jose is targeting the large multispecialty clinics and integrated health systems anchored in North San Jose and the Almaden Valley corridor, which maintain steady hiring cycles year-round. Candidates with phlebotomy or EKR certification stand out because Silicon Valley employers see high patient volume and need MAs who can cross-cover. Reaching out to urgent care networks and employer-sponsored health clinics tied to major tech campuses also opens doors that traditional hospital pipelines don't.
Which companies hire medical assistants in San Jose?
Companies currently hiring medical assistants in San Jose include CALRegional, Unitek Learning, and Kaiser Permanente, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. San Jose's hiring landscape skews toward large multispecialty groups and integrated health networks that operate multiple clinic sites across Santa Clara County.
Are there remote medical assistant jobs in San Jose?
Yes, but remote work is uncommon for most medical assistant roles because the core duties, including patient intake, vitals, and clinical support, require on-site presence. About 0% of medical assistant openings tied to San Jose are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those positions tend to center on care coordination, prior authorizations, or chronic disease management tasks that don't require a clinical setting.
How can I get a medical assistant job in San Jose with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point in San Jose is applying to urgent care chains and community health centers in East San Jose and the Evergreen district, which consistently hire entry-level candidates and provide on-the-job training. Starting in a front-office or patient services role at a local clinic is a common lateral move that leads to a clinical MA position within six to twelve months. Bilingual Spanish skills are a genuine advantage given the patient demographics across much of San Jose's primary care market.
