Entry Level Medical Physicist Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level medical physicist job?
Start by completing a CAMPEP-accredited graduate program and securing a clinical internship or residency, since hands-on equipment experience is what most hiring managers weigh most at this stage. A strong letter of recommendation from a clinical supervisor, documented competency in treatment planning software, and membership in organizations like AAPM signal readiness. Applying to residency programs through the MedPhys Match process is the most direct path into the field for new graduates.
Which companies hire entry level medical physicists?
Companies hiring entry level medical physicists right now include Trinity Health, Medpace, and OU Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. At this level, hiring covers academic medical centers, regional cancer treatment networks, and large hospital systems that run active residency or junior physicist programs.
Are there remote entry level medical physicist jobs?
Yes, though most roles require on-site presence due to hands-on equipment work. About 7% of entry level medical physicist openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and these tend to be in dosimetry review, treatment planning support, or quality assurance roles where some tasks can be completed off-site.
Are these new grad medical physicist jobs?
Yes, the openings on this page include new grad, recent graduate, and junior medical physicist roles. A posting is new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, counts clinical rotations or internships toward its requirements, or explicitly accepts a portfolio of academic or residency work in place of years on the job. Look for titles that include junior, resident, or associate to identify these positions quickly.
Which industries hire the most entry level medical physicists?
Entry Level medical physicist roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Science & Research, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because they operate high-volume radiation therapy and diagnostic imaging programs that depend on a steady pipeline of newly trained physicists to staff clinical and quality assurance workflows.
