Entry Level Merchandising Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level merchandising manager job?
Employers hiring at this level look for candidates who understand product placement, inventory basics, and visual merchandising principles, often gained through retail internships, coursework, or hands-on part-time work. A portfolio showing planogram projects, college coursework in retail management or business, and demonstrated attention to detail in a store environment gives entry level candidates a real edge over a generic resume.
Which companies hire entry level merchandising managers?
Companies hiring entry level merchandising managers right now include Dollar Tree, The Home Depot, and Chewy, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Retailers, consumer goods brands, and wholesale distributors tend to hire most actively at this level, often building internal talent pipelines from junior roles.
Are there remote entry level merchandising manager jobs?
Yes, though most merchandising manager roles at this level involve in-store or distribution center work. About 3% of entry level merchandising manager openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions typically focus on digital merchandising, e-commerce assortment planning, or vendor coordination rather than floor-level execution.
Are these new grad merchandising manager jobs?
Yes. These listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior merchandising manager roles. A posting is generally new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts internships or coursework in place of full-time history, or asks for a portfolio rather than an extensive resume. Look for language like "entry level," "new grad," or "no prior management experience required" in the job description.
Which industries hire the most entry level merchandising managers?
Entry Level merchandising manager roles concentrate in Retail, Technology & Software, and Distribution & Wholesale, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors hire at the junior level because high product turnover, seasonal resets, and planogram execution demand consistent ground-level merchandising support that companies build through entry level talent.
