MRI Technologist Jobs in Indiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a mri technologist in Indiana?
To work as an mri technologist in Indiana, you need to complete an accredited radiologic technology or MRI program and earn ARRT certification in MRI. Indiana does not issue a separate state license for mri technologists, so ARRT registration is the primary credential employers require. Most candidates enter through an accredited associate degree program, complete clinical hours, and then pass the ARRT MRI registry exam before applying to hospital or imaging center positions.
How much do MRI technologists make in Indiana?
MRI technologists in Indiana earn a median of about $86,880 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $64,300 for the lowest 10% to over $102,690 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire mri technologists in Indiana?
Employers hiring mri technologists in Indiana right now include RAYUS Radiology, Franciscan Health, and Deaconess Health System, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Indiana's large integrated health systems and regional hospital networks tend to post the most consistent volume of openings, particularly in the Indianapolis metro and along the I-69 corridor through Fort Wayne.
Which Indiana cities have the most mri technologist jobs?
Newburgh, Fort Wayne, and Mishawaka have the most mri technologist openings in Indiana. Indianapolis dominates because of its concentration of large academic medical centers, Level I trauma hospitals, and outpatient imaging groups, while Fort Wayne and South Bend generate steady demand through regional hospital systems and orthopedic specialty practices that serve large surrounding populations.
Are there remote mri technologist jobs in Indiana?
Yes, but they're rare. MRI technology is a hands-on clinical role requiring direct patient contact and operation of imaging equipment on-site, so the vast majority of positions require in-person work. About 17% of mri technologist openings tied to Indiana are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those roles are typically in teleradiology support, MRI quality assurance, or clinical education rather than direct patient scanning.
How can I get hired as a mri technologist in Indiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to new-graduate or trainee MRI technologist roles at Indiana University Health or Ascension St. Vincent, both of which periodically hire ARRT-eligible candidates and provide on-the-job MRI training for staff already holding general radiography certification. Starting as a radiologic technologist in X-ray or CT at a hospital or outpatient imaging center in Indiana is a common lateral move, and adding MRI registry credentials through the ARRT advances candidacy quickly.
Where can I find and apply to mri technologist jobs in Indiana?
You can find and apply to mri technologist jobs in Indiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current Indiana openings across hospitals, imaging centers, and specialty clinics. Search the listings to find roles that match your credentials and experience level, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
