MRI Technologist Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a mri technologist in Massachusetts?
You become a mri technologist in Massachusetts by completing an accredited radiologic technology or MRI-specific program, then earning ARRT certification in MRI, which Massachusetts employers treat as the standard credential for practice. Massachusetts does not issue a separate state license for mri technologists, so ARRT certification is the primary qualification hiring managers require. Most employers also expect clinical hours completed during your program before considering candidates for staff positions.
How much do MRI technologists make in Massachusetts?
MRI technologists in Massachusetts earn a median of about $110,600 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $62,360 for the lowest 10% to over $146,880 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire mri technologists in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring mri technologists in Massachusetts right now include Beth Israel Lahey Health, Shields Health, and Boston Children's Hospital, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Massachusetts's concentration of academic medical systems and regional hospital networks means demand is steady year-round, particularly at facilities affiliated with Boston's major research institutions.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most mri technologist jobs?
Boston, Chelsea, and Cambridge have the most mri technologist openings in Massachusetts. Boston drives the highest volume because of its dense cluster of academic medical centers and teaching hospitals, while Worcester and Springfield see consistent demand from regional health systems like UMass Memorial Health and Baystate Health that serve large surrounding populations.
Are there remote mri technologist jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of mri technologist openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting that the core work requires in-person operation of imaging equipment and direct patient care. The most remote-eligible functions are teleradiology support roles and MRI education or training positions that do not involve direct scanning.
How can I get hired as a mri technologist in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for new-graduate or per-diem staff technologist roles at large Massachusetts health systems, many of which run structured onboarding programs for new ARRT certificate holders. Mass General Brigham and Boston Children's Hospital have historically offered new-grad clinical development tracks in imaging. Coming from a radiologic technologist background and cross-training into MRI through a formal transition program, or taking a registry-eligible position in a high-volume outpatient imaging center, are the strongest moves for candidates without dedicated MRI experience.
Where can I find and apply to mri technologist jobs in Massachusetts?
You can find and apply to mri technologist jobs in Massachusetts on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings at employers across the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your experience and preferred location, and apply directly to the positions that match.
