Network Support Technician Jobs in Kentucky: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a network support technician in Kentucky?
Kentucky does not require a state-issued license to work as a network support technician. The typical path starts with an associate degree in information technology or a related field from a Kentucky community college such as those in the KCTCS system, followed by an industry certification like CompTIA A+ or Network+. Most Kentucky employers treat these certifications as the functional credential, and many will hire candidates with a combination of coursework and hands-on lab or internship experience.
Which companies hire network support technicians in Kentucky?
Kentucky network support technician roles are posted by MTI Global Services, Humana, and CVS Health and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Kentucky's mix of large healthcare systems, logistics companies, and public universities means openings appear across a wide range of industries and workplace environments.
Which Kentucky cities have the most network support technician jobs?
Louisville, Lexington, and Erlanger have the most network support technician openings in Kentucky. Louisville anchors demand through its large healthcare, insurance, and distribution sectors, while Lexington's concentration of universities and research institutions drives steady IT support hiring, and smaller metro areas reflect the footprint of major regional employers or government facilities nearby.
Are there remote network support technician jobs in Kentucky?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely desk-based roles because network support often requires hands-on work with physical hardware and on-site infrastructure. About 20% of network support technician openings tied to Kentucky are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with the remote share concentrated in tier-two support, monitoring, and help-desk roles where most tasks can be handled through remote access tools.
How can I get hired as a network support technician in Kentucky with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is a help-desk or IT support specialist role, which many Kentucky employers use as a pipeline into network support. Large institutions like the University of Kentucky, University of Louisville, and major Louisville-area health systems hire entry-level IT support staff and often provide on-the-job exposure to networking tools. Earning a CompTIA A+ certification before applying gives candidates a concrete edge, and lateral moves from desktop support or field technician positions are a common path once you are inside a Kentucky employer's IT organization.
Where can I find and apply to network support technician jobs in Kentucky?
You can find and apply to network support technician jobs in Kentucky on Migrate Mate, which lists current Kentucky openings. Search the listings for roles that match your experience level and location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
