Entry Level Neurosurgeon Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level neurosurgeon job?
Entry level neurosurgeon positions typically require completion of a neurosurgical residency program and, increasingly, a fellowship in a subspecialty such as spine, pediatric, or skull-base surgery. Candidates who can demonstrate strong operative case volume, research publications, and letters of recommendation from respected attending surgeons stand out. Networking through professional conferences and residency alumni connections also opens doors at this stage.
Which companies hire entry level neurosurgeons?
Companies hiring entry level neurosurgeons right now include Mayo Clinic, OSF HealthCare, and Houston Methodist, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. At this level, hiring tends to come from academic medical centers, large hospital systems, and multispecialty physician groups that have the infrastructure and case volume to support surgeons who are early in their independent practice.
Are there remote entry level neurosurgeon jobs?
Yes, though remote opportunities in neurosurgery are limited by the hands-on nature of surgical practice. About 0% of entry level neurosurgeon openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and these tend to be roles in teleneurology, clinical consulting, or medical education rather than active surgical positions. On-site roles at hospitals and surgical centers remain the dominant format.
Are these new grad neurosurgeon jobs?
Yes, the listings here include new grad, recent graduate, and junior neurosurgeon roles. A posting is typically new-grad friendly when it welcomes candidates who have just completed residency or fellowship, accepts zero to two years of independent practice experience, or explicitly values clinical training and rotations in place of a long attending history. These roles are designed for surgeons stepping into their first attending position.
Which industries hire the most entry level neurosurgeons?
Entry Level neurosurgeon roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Science & Research, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive early-career hiring because they combine high patient volumes, subspecialty case variety, and the mentorship infrastructure that new neurosurgeons need to build independent surgical confidence in their first years of attending practice.
