Operations Director Jobs in San Francisco: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a operations director job in San Francisco?
The strongest path into an operations director role in San Francisco runs through technology companies, healthtech firms, and financial services employers, all of which concentrate hiring in SoMa, Mission Bay, and the Financial District. Candidates who stand out here typically combine cross-functional leadership experience with familiarity with high-growth or regulated environments. Demonstrating comfort with rapid scaling, vendor management, and data-driven process improvement gives applicants a clear edge in this market.
Which companies hire operations directors in San Francisco?
Companies currently hiring operations directors in San Francisco include DoorDash, Airwallex, and OpenAI, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. San Francisco's employer mix skews heavily toward venture-backed technology companies, established fintech firms, and large hospital and healthtech systems, all of which maintain active operations leadership hiring throughout the year.
Are there remote operations director jobs in San Francisco?
Yes, though remote availability depends heavily on the role: operations directors overseeing physical sites, logistics, or in-person teams typically need to be on-site, while those focused on process, analytics, or vendor operations can work remotely more often. About 35% of operations director openings tied to San Francisco are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with the highest remote share found in software and fintech companies based in SoMa and the Financial District.
How can I get a operations director job in San Francisco with little or no experience?
