Operations Jobs in Durham: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a operations job in Durham?
Focus your search on Durham's dominant sectors: life sciences, university research operations, healthcare systems, and technology firms anchored near Research Triangle Park. Employers in these industries consistently hire for supply chain, facilities, and process improvement roles. Candidates who can demonstrate cross-functional coordination experience, familiarity with regulated environments such as pharma or clinical settings, and strong data literacy tend to stand out in this market.
Which companies hire operationss in Durham?
Durham operations roles are posted by Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions, MCNC, and Fortrea and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Durham's employer mix skews toward large research institutions, biotech firms, and academic medical centers, alongside a growing number of technology and logistics companies that have expanded into the area.
Are there remote operations jobs in Durham?
Yes, though it depends heavily on the role: analytical, planning, and coordination functions often support remote or hybrid arrangements, while facilities, warehouse, and on-site production roles typically require a physical presence. About 34% of operations openings tied to Durham are remote or hybrid as of September 2026. Process improvement and project operations positions at Durham's tech and life sciences companies are the most likely to offer flexible location options.
How can I get a operations job in Durham with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Durham is through operations coordinator or administrative operations roles at Duke University, Duke Health, or the research institutions clustered around Research Triangle Park, which regularly hire candidates without extensive prior experience. Lateral moves from customer service, logistics coordination, or lab support roles are common. Candidates who highlight scheduling, vendor communication, or inventory management experience, even from part-time or internship work, gain a concrete edge with Durham employers.
