Tips for Your Paid Search Manager Job Search
Quantify campaign performance on your resume
Hiring managers want numbers, not duties. List the ad spend you managed, your click-through rate improvements, and ROAS gains for each role. Vague claims like 'managed paid search campaigns' get filtered out in seconds.
Earn Google Ads certification before applying
Many paid search manager postings list Google Ads certification as a required or preferred credential. Complete the free exams through Google Skillshop before you apply so your resume clears the initial screening without questions.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists paid search manager openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Target listings by channel specialization
Paid search roles vary widely by channel focus. A Google Shopping-heavy e-commerce role and a B2B lead-gen position on Microsoft Ads call for different experience. Filter your search by the channel terms that match your strongest work.
Prepare a case study for your interview
Interviewers routinely ask you to walk through a campaign you built from keyword research to bid strategy to reporting. Have one specific example ready with the brief, the decisions you made, and the measured outcome.
Negotiate on total compensation, not just base
Paid search roles at agencies often come with performance bonuses tied to client retention metrics. Ask specifically what the bonus structure looks like and whether it is discretionary or formula-based before you accept any offer.
Paid Search Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most paid search managers?
The companies hiring the most paid search managers right now include Citi, Corpay, and HARVEY, with the largest share of openings in New York, California, and Illinois, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Demand is consistently strongest at large e-commerce retailers, performance marketing agencies, and financial services brands running high-volume paid acquisition programs.
How many paid search manager jobs are remote?
About 80% of paid search manager openings are fully remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how channel-agnostic the work is when platforms and reporting tools are cloud-based. Roles focused on strategy, reporting, and account optimization tend to be the most remote-friendly, while positions with heavy agency-client coordination more often require some in-office presence.
How do you become a paid search manager?
Start by building hands-on experience running Google Ads or Microsoft Ads campaigns, even on a small budget for a personal project or a local business. Earn platform certifications through Google Skillshop. Move into a coordinator or specialist role at an agency or in-house team, focus on owned metrics like ROAS and cost per acquisition, and progress toward managing larger budgets and junior team members over time.
Can you get a paid search manager job with little experience?
Yes, if you can show results rather than just credentials. Build a portfolio by running real campaigns, document the outcomes with actual performance numbers, and apply to associate or junior paid search roles that explicitly welcome developing candidates. Agencies are often more open to career changers who demonstrate platform literacy and an analytical mindset than to applicants with degrees but no campaign history.
What does the paid search manager interview process look like?
Most hiring processes include an initial recruiter screen focused on channel experience and budget scale, followed by a hiring manager interview that goes deep on strategy, bidding philosophy, and how you structure campaigns. Expect a practical exercise, often a mock account audit or a case study where you present a campaign build-out. Final rounds typically involve a panel with marketing leadership or cross-functional stakeholders.
Where can I find and apply to paid search manager jobs?
You can find and apply to paid search manager jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from companies across the United States. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and channel focus, and apply directly to each listing that fits.
