Partner Account Manager Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a partner account manager in California?
The most direct path is a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field followed by two to four years in inside sales, channel sales, or account management at a technology or software company. California employers strongly favor candidates with hands-on experience managing reseller or alliance partner programs. No state-issued license is required, but certifications from major platforms such as Salesforce or AWS are common differentiators in Bay Area and Los Angeles hiring.
How much do partner account managers make in California?
Partner account managers in California earn a median of about $80,850 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $43,240 for the lowest 10% to over $168,720 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire partner account managers in California?
Employers hiring partner account managers in California right now include Uber, Klaviyo, and Amazon Web Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. California's dense concentration of enterprise software, cloud, and networking companies means openings are posted year-round, particularly in the Bay Area and greater Los Angeles tech corridors.
Which California cities have the most partner account manager jobs?
San Francisco, California, and Santa Clara have the most partner account manager openings in California. The Bay Area leads because it is home to the headquarters of many of the world's largest enterprise software, cloud, and networking companies, while Los Angeles draws openings from media technology and digital infrastructure firms and San Diego benefits from a strong cybersecurity and telecom employer base.
Are there remote partner account manager jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 40% of partner account manager openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the desk-based and relationship-management nature of the role. The portions of the work most likely to stay remote are pipeline reporting, partner enablement sessions, and internal coordination, while new partner onboarding and executive business reviews typically require in-person attendance.
How can I get hired as a partner account manager in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting in inside sales or business development at a Bay Area or Los Angeles technology company, then moving laterally into a channel or partner operations role. Large California employers like Cisco, Oracle, and ServiceNow run structured sales associate programs that rotate participants through partner-facing work. Building a Salesforce or HubSpot CRM certification and completing vendor-sponsored partner program training, such as AWS Partner Network essentials, gives candidates without direct partner experience a credible edge.
Where can I find and apply to partner account manager jobs in California?
