Patient Care RN Jobs in Delaware: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a patient care rn in Delaware?
You become a patient care rn in Delaware by completing an accredited nursing program, either an Associate Degree in Nursing or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, then passing the NCLEX-RN exam. After passing, you apply for licensure through the Delaware Board of Nursing. Delaware participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact, so nurses already licensed in another compact state can work in Delaware without obtaining a separate state license.
How much do patient care RNs make in Delaware?
Patient care RNs in Delaware earn a median of about $99,520 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $78,340 for the lowest 10% to over $123,860 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire patient care rns in Delaware?
Companies currently hiring patient care rns in Delaware include Bayhealth, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Delaware's relatively compact healthcare market means a handful of large regional systems account for the majority of openings across the state.
Which Delaware cities have the most patient care rn jobs?
Dover, Milford, and Smyrna have the most patient care rn openings in Delaware. Wilmington leads because it is home to ChristianaCare's flagship hospital campus and several specialty care facilities, while Newark and Dover support large volumes of openings through university-affiliated health services and Bayhealth's regional network serving central and southern Delaware.
Are there remote patient care rn jobs in Delaware?
Yes, but they're rare. Hands-on patient care is inherently on-site, so most patient care rn roles require physical presence on a unit or in a clinic. About 0% of patient care rn openings tied to Delaware are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those tend to be in care coordination, utilization review, or telephonic triage rather than direct bedside nursing.
How can I get hired as a patient care rn in Delaware with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to a new graduate residency program. ChristianaCare and Bayhealth Medical Center both run structured nurse residency programs designed for RNs without prior hospital experience, typically placing new graduates in med-surg or telemetry units before specialization. Completing a clinical rotation at a Delaware facility during nursing school strengthens your application considerably. Holding a current Delaware RN license and BLS certification before you apply removes common early-screening barriers.
Where can I find and apply to patient care rn jobs in Delaware?
You can find and apply to patient care rn jobs in Delaware on Migrate Mate, which lists current Delaware openings across hospitals, health systems, and outpatient facilities. Search the listings, find roles that match your experience and preferred setting, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
