Entry Level Pediatric Surgeon Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level pediatric surgeon job?
Start by completing a pediatric surgery fellowship, which is the primary credential employers look for at the entry level. Highlighting hands-on case volume from your residency and fellowship, strong letters of recommendation from attending surgeons, and any research or publication experience gives you a real edge. Hospitals and children's medical centers often prioritize candidates who demonstrate subspecialty interest and collaborative clinical skills during the hiring process.
Which companies hire entry level pediatric surgeons?
Companies hiring entry level pediatric surgeons right now include Virginia Commonwealth University, SIU Medicine, and Legacy Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. The kinds of employers most active at this level include children's hospitals, academic medical centers, and large health systems that run active pediatric surgery programs and need to staff fellowship-trained surgeons in junior attending roles.
Are there remote entry level pediatric surgeon jobs?
Yes, though remote opportunities in this field are limited given the hands-on nature of surgical practice. About 0% of entry level pediatric surgeon openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those roles typically involve telemedicine consultations, post-operative follow-up care, or administrative and research responsibilities rather than direct operative work.
Are these new grad pediatric surgeon jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior pediatric surgeon roles. A posting is generally new-grad friendly when it welcomes candidates completing a fellowship, accepts zero to two years of attending experience, or explicitly values internship and training volume over an established independent practice history. Many children's hospitals actively recruit new grads to bring in current clinical training and fellowship expertise.
Which industries hire the most entry level pediatric surgeons?
Entry Level pediatric surgeon roles concentrate in Education and Healthcare & Medical Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors drive hiring at the entry level because they operate high-volume pediatric programs that depend on fellowship-trained surgeons to meet patient demand and support teaching and research missions.
