Pharmaceutical Sales Representative Jobs in Mississippi: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a pharmaceutical sales representative in Mississippi?
Mississippi does not require a state-issued license specifically for pharmaceutical sales representatives, so the path focuses on education and employer credentialing. Most hiring managers expect a bachelor's degree, preferably in a life science or business field. Candidates strengthen their standing by completing the Certified National Pharmaceutical Representative designation through the National Association of Pharmaceutical Sales Representatives and by gaining experience in medical, clinical, or B2B sales roles before applying to Mississippi-based territory openings.
How much do pharmaceutical sales representatives make in Mississippi?
Pharmaceutical sales representatives in Mississippi earn a median of about $59,320 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $30,930 for the lowest 10% to over $110,080 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire pharmaceutical sales representatives in Mississippi?
Mississippi pharmaceutical sales representative roles are posted by Nexion Health, CVS Health, and CBRE and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Mississippi's mix of independent physician practices, rural health clinics, and regional hospital systems means hiring tends to favor candidates comfortable managing geographically wide territories.
Which Mississippi cities have the most pharmaceutical sales representative jobs?
Oxford, Jackson, and Mississippi account for the largest concentration of pharmaceutical sales representative openings in Mississippi. Jackson leads because it is the state capital and home to University of Mississippi Medical Center, the flagship academic medical center that anchors a dense cluster of specialty clinics and physician offices, while Hattiesburg and Gulfport draw postings tied to Forrest Health and Memorial Hospital respectively, both of which are major regional referral destinations.
Are there remote pharmaceutical sales representative jobs in Mississippi?
Yes, but they're rare. Pharmaceutical sales is fundamentally a field-based role requiring in-person visits to physician offices, clinics, and hospitals, which limits fully remote opportunities. About 46% of pharmaceutical sales representative openings tied to Mississippi are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those postings typically involve inside sales, medical affairs liaison work, or account management functions that do not require daily face-to-face detailing.
How can I get hired as a pharmaceutical sales representative in Mississippi with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing a pharmaceutical sales associate or specialty sales trainee role, which larger companies operating in Mississippi such as Pfizer and AbbVie use to develop candidates who come from adjacent backgrounds. Mississippi hiring managers commonly recruit from clinical roles like medical assistant or pharmacy technician, as well as from retail or B2B sales positions where quota attainment is documented. Completing the Certified National Pharmaceutical Representative designation before applying signals commitment and gives candidates without direct pharma experience a concrete credential to reference during interviews.
Where can I find and apply to pharmaceutical sales representative jobs in Mississippi?
You can find and apply to pharmaceutical sales representative jobs in Mississippi on Migrate Mate, which lists current Mississippi openings from employers actively hiring in the state. Find roles that fit your experience and location preference and apply directly to each one.
