Pharmacy Intern Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a pharmacy intern in Texas?
To become a pharmacy intern in Texas, you must be enrolled in an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education-accredited pharmacy program and register with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy to obtain an intern license before practicing. The TSBP issues this registration, which allows you to work under a licensed pharmacist preceptor while accumulating required intern hours. Most Texas pharmacy schools coordinate the registration process during your first professional year.
How much do pharmacy interns make in Texas?
Pharmacy interns in Texas earn a median of about $45,900 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $35,920 for the lowest 10% to over $59,260 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire pharmacy interns in Texas?
Employers hiring pharmacy interns in Texas right now include CVS Health, Walgreens, and Walmart, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's large integrated health systems and its dense network of retail pharmacy locations make it one of the more active states for intern placements year-round.
Which Texas cities have the most pharmacy intern jobs?
Dallas, Houston, and Fort Worth have the most pharmacy intern openings in Texas, driven by the concentration of major hospital systems, academic medical centers, and high-volume retail pharmacy locations that anchor each metro's healthcare infrastructure. Larger suburban corridors around these cities also generate steady openings as regional health networks and independent pharmacies expand to serve growing populations.
Are there remote pharmacy intern jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Pharmacy intern work is largely hands-on, requiring in-person dispensing, patient interaction, and supervision under a licensed preceptor, which limits remote options by nature. About 0% of pharmacy intern openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions typically involve specialty functions like prior authorization support or medication therapy management where direct patient contact is minimal.
How can I get hired as a pharmacy intern in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to retail pharmacy chains and regional hospital systems during your first professional year of pharmacy school, before accumulating significant hours. H-E-B Pharmacy, Baylor Scott & White Health, and UT Southwestern Medical Center all run structured intern programs that onboard students with limited prior experience. Obtaining your TSBP intern registration early and completing a PTCB-certified pharmacy technician role beforehand significantly strengthens your application at competitive sites.
Where can I find and apply to pharmacy intern jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to pharmacy intern jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across retail, hospital, and specialty pharmacy settings. Find roles that fit your availability, program year, and preferred practice area, then apply directly to the employers posting them.
