Entry Level Plumber Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level plumber job?
Entry level plumber employers look for candidates who have completed a vocational program, trade school coursework, or a pre-apprenticeship. Documenting hands-on skills, such as pipe fitting, basic fixture installation, or code familiarity, gives you a clear edge. Many employers at this level hire through apprenticeship programs, so applying directly to union halls or contractor training programs is a strong first move.
Which companies hire entry level plumbers?
Companies hiring entry level plumbers right now include Walmart, Boys Town, and City of Detroit, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Residential contractors, commercial construction firms, and facility maintenance companies are among the most consistent employers for candidates just starting out at this level.
Are there remote entry level plumber jobs?
Yes, though the majority of plumber roles require on-site work. About 0% of entry level plumber openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions typically involve estimating, project coordination, or customer service support rather than hands-on installation or repair work.
Are these new grad plumber jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior plumber roles. A new grad friendly posting typically welcomes candidates with zero to two years of experience, accepts completed apprenticeship hours or trade school training in place of full work history, and considers a strong internship or documented portfolio of hands-on projects as qualifying credentials.
Which industries hire the most entry level plumbers?
Entry Level plumber roles concentrate in Retail, Education, and Healthcare & Medical Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because ongoing construction activity, facility upkeep, and infrastructure maintenance create steady demand for apprentice-ready candidates who can grow into journeyman roles.
