This role will own the strategy, roadmap, and execution of payment capabilities across the platform, including credit and debit cards, ACH, MoneyGram and other alternative payment methods, lockbox services, recurring/autopay, and online payments.
The ideal candidate brings strong payments-domain expertise combined with senior-level product leadership, technical fluency, and the ability to drive complex initiatives across Product, Engineering, Architecture, Design, QA, Finance, Operations, Compliance, and external payment partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the payment product strategy, roadmap, prioritization, and execution across the platform.
- Lead payment initiatives end-to-end, from discovery and requirements definition through development, testing, launch, and post-launch optimization.
- Drive improvements across payment acceptance, conversion, reliability, settlement, reconciliation, refunds, reversals, returns, disputes, and customer payment experiences.
- Manage and evolve integrations with payment processors, gateways, banks, payment networks, lockbox providers, MoneyGram and other fintech partners.

- Collaborate with Finance, Operations, Support, and Compliance to ensure accurate settlement, reconciliation, reporting, controls, and operational processes.
- Analyze transaction data, payment trends, customer feedback, support issues, and operational metrics to identify friction points and prioritize product improvements.
- Translate complex payment requirements and technical constraints into clear product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and business rules.
- Lead cross-functional delivery using Agile/Scrum methodologies while maintaining visibility into scope, dependencies, risks, and launch readiness.
- Serve as a payments subject-matter expert and establish product best practices across the organization.
Required Payments Experience
This position requires substantial hands-on experience with payment products, payment platforms, or payment processing ecosystems. Candidates should understand both the customer-facing payment experience and the underlying technical and operational lifecycle.
Required experience includes:
- Credit and debit card payments: authorization, capture, settlement, refunds, chargebacks/disputes, tokenization, and card-on-file.
- ACH payments: account validation, payment initiation, returns, settlement timing, status management, and exception handling.
- Alternative and cash payment methods: MoneyGram or comparable bill-payment and cash-payment networks.
- Lockbox processing: remittance data, payment matching, exception management, posting, and reconciliation.

- Payment operations: transaction lifecycle management, settlement reporting, reconciliation, troubleshooting, and resolution of payment failures or discrepancies.
- Payment security and risk: understanding of fraud, risk, compliance, security, and payment-control considerations.

- Strong, demonstrated experience in payments, payment processing, fintech, banking technology, transaction platforms, or SaaS products with significant payment functionality.
- Proven ability to own complex product initiatives from concept through delivery and make effective prioritization decisions across customer, business, technical, and operational requirements.
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and experience partnering closely with Engineering, QA, Architecture, Design, and other technical teams.
- Experience creating clear PRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria, business rules, process flows, and launch plans.
- Proficiency with JIRA and Confluence; experience with Figma or similar product/design collaboration tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with transactional data, payment metrics, operational reporting, and root-cause analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex payment and technical concepts to both technical and business stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through influence and collaborate effectively across multiple functions.
Preferred / Bonus Experience
- Experience with property management software, property technology, rent payments, resident payments, or real estate technology.
- Experience working with multiple payment processors, acquiring banks, sponsor banks, gateways, or payment orchestration platforms.
- Familiarity with PCI-related product considerations, NACHA/ACH operating concepts, fraud and risk tooling, and payment compliance requirements.
- Experience modernizing legacy payment platforms or migrating payment integrations to modern APIs and architectures.
- Experience building B2B2C or multi-tenant SaaS products, particularly where payment behavior varies by customer, property, account, or configuration.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid role with a strong in-office collaboration expectation.

How do I get a product manager job in Jersey City?
Focus your search on Jersey City's three main hiring clusters: the Exchange Place and waterfront financial district for fintech and banking product roles, Journal Square for growing tech startups and mid-size software companies, and Newport for enterprise and B2B platforms. Candidates who stand out locally combine Agile or Scrum certification with demonstrated experience in financial products, payments, or data-driven consumer apps, which are the specialties Jersey City employers request most.
Which companies hire product managers in Jersey City?
Employers hiring product managers in Jersey City right now include JPMorganChase, Links ABA therapy, and Matrix Global, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Jersey City's employer mix skews heavily toward financial services firms, fintech scale-ups, and enterprise software companies that have relocated operations from Manhattan to the waterfront.
Are there remote product manager jobs in Jersey City?
Yes, though it depends on the role type. Product management is largely analytical and collaborative, making it well suited to remote and hybrid arrangements. About 67% of product manager openings tied to Jersey City are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting strong demand from fintech and SaaS employers in the area. Roles tied to in-person stakeholder workshops or on-site agile teams at Jersey City financial firms are more likely to require regular office presence.
How can I get a product manager job in Jersey City with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Jersey City is through associate product manager or product operations roles at the fintech and enterprise software companies concentrated in the Exchange Place and Newport districts. Many of these firms also hire from business analyst, data analyst, and project coordinator positions as a lateral move into product. A portfolio of side projects, product teardowns, or contributions to open-source tools will differentiate you with Jersey City's tech-forward employers, who value demonstrated product thinking over credentials alone.
