Product Security Engineer Jobs in Rhode Island: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a product security engineer in Rhode Island?
Product security engineering in Rhode Island has no state-issued license, so the path runs through education and industry credentials. Most Rhode Island employers expect a bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, computer science, or electrical engineering, followed by certifications such as CISSP or CompTIA Security+. Defense contractors near Quonset and Textron may additionally require a federal security clearance, which candidates initiate through their sponsoring employer after hire.
Which companies hire product security engineers in Rhode Island?
Companies currently hiring product security engineers in Rhode Island include FM, CVS Health, and Citizens, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Rhode Island's mix of defense primes, regional health systems, and financial services firms means openings appear across several distinct industries rather than clustering in a single sector.
Which Rhode Island cities have the most product security engineer jobs?
Johnston, Middletown, and Providence account for the most product security engineer openings in Rhode Island. Providence drives volume as the state's commercial and hospital hub, while Woonsocket reflects the security demands of large financial services operations headquartered there, and the Quonset Business Park area draws defense and advanced manufacturing contractors that require embedded and system-level security expertise.
Are there remote product security engineer jobs in Rhode Island?
Yes, and more than most engineering fields, because much of the work involves code review, threat modeling, and cloud infrastructure assessment that does not require physical presence. About 44% of product security engineer openings tied to Rhode Island are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, though roles at defense contractors near Quonset are more likely to require on-site clearance work. Application security and cloud security specialties tend to carry the most remote flexibility.
How can I get hired as a product security engineer in Rhode Island with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a software development or IT operations role into a junior security engineer position. Rhode Island health systems such as Lifespan and Brown University Health run associate-level IT and security rotational programs that welcome candidates without dedicated security experience. Building a portfolio of capture-the-flag write-ups or open-source security contributions, paired with a CompTIA Security+ certification, gives candidates a concrete edge when applying to those programs or to entry security analyst roles that feed into product security teams.
Where can I find and apply to product security engineer jobs in Rhode Island?
Migrate Mate lists current product security engineer openings in Rhode Island in one place. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience and specialization, then apply directly to the ones that fit. There is no profile to create and no sign-up required to see or apply to the positions.
