Production Lead Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a production lead in Texas?
Most production leads in Texas reach the role by working their way up from line operator or technician positions within a manufacturing facility. Texas does not require a state-issued license for most production lead roles, but employers across the state consistently prefer candidates with OSHA safety training, forklift certification, and familiarity with lean or Six Sigma methods. A high school diploma or GED is the standard minimum, while an associate degree in manufacturing technology or industrial operations strengthens candidacy at larger Texas plants.
How much do production leads make in Texas?
Production leads in Texas earn a median of about $70,140 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $43,360 for the lowest 10% to over $115,230 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire production leads in Texas?
Employers hiring production leads in Texas right now include Celestica, AAON, and Garver, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's mix of large-scale food processing, aerospace manufacturing, petrochemical facilities, and consumer goods plants means production lead openings appear across a wide range of industries throughout the state.
Which Texas cities have the most production lead jobs?
Richardson, Longview, and Houston have the most production lead openings in Texas right now. Houston leads because of its massive petrochemical, energy equipment, and food manufacturing base, while Dallas-Fort Worth draws volume from aerospace, electronics assembly, and distribution operations, and San Antonio's growing advanced manufacturing sector and military-adjacent defense contractors drive consistent demand in that market.
Are there remote production lead jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Production lead work is inherently floor-based, requiring direct oversight of machinery, line workers, and physical output, so most roles are fully on-site. About 8% of production lead openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions typically involve production planning, scheduling coordination, or quality systems management rather than direct floor supervision.
How can I get hired as a production lead in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing a line operator or production associate role at a Texas manufacturing facility and building toward promotion from within. Large Texas employers like Tyson Foods, Flex, and Whirlpool run structured advancement programs that move high-performing associates into lead roles after demonstrating reliability and team awareness. Completing an OSHA 10-hour General Industry course and earning a forklift operator certificate through a Texas community college or workforce training center, such as those offered through the Texas Workforce Commission, gives candidates a measurable edge when applying.
Where can I find and apply to production lead jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to production lead jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across manufacturing, food processing, energy, and other industries. Find roles that fit your experience and location, then apply directly to each employer through the listing.
