Production Lead Jobs in Indiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a production lead in Indiana?
Most production leads in Indiana move into the role after several years on the production floor in positions like machine operator, assembler, or line worker. Indiana does not require a state-issued license for this role. Employers typically look for candidates with hands-on manufacturing experience, a high school diploma or associate degree, and familiarity with lean or Six Sigma methods. Completing an OSHA safety certification or a forklift credential strengthens a candidate's profile considerably.
Which companies hire production leads in Indiana?
Indiana production lead roles are posted by CARVANA, Clemens Food, and Lids and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Indiana's deep roots in automotive, pharmaceutical, and food manufacturing mean that large plant operations across the state post openings for this role on a rolling basis.
Which Indiana cities have the most production lead jobs?
Indianapolis, Beech Grove, and Elkhart have the most production lead openings in Indiana right now. Indianapolis anchors demand through its pharmaceutical and logistics operations, Fort Wayne draws from its auto parts and defense manufacturing base, and Elkhart's recreational vehicle industry keeps a steady pipeline of openings for experienced production leads at plants of every size.
Are there remote production lead jobs in Indiana?
Yes, but they're rare. Production leads are primarily on-site roles responsible for overseeing floor operations, staffing, and real-time output, which makes remote work uncommon by nature. About 0% of production lead openings tied to Indiana are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions tend to involve production planning or scheduling functions rather than direct floor supervision.
How can I get hired as a production lead in Indiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is starting as a machine operator, assembler, or material handler at a large Indiana manufacturer and building a record of reliability and team collaboration. Employers like Cummins and Subaru of Indiana Automotive run internal advancement programs that identify high-performing line workers for lead and supervisor tracks. Earning an OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification and a forklift license before applying makes a candidate stand out even without formal leadership experience.
Where can I find and apply to production lead jobs in Indiana?
