Safety Coordinator Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a safety coordinator in Texas?
Start with a degree or certificate in occupational health and safety, environmental science, or a related field, as most Texas employers list this as a baseline requirement. Texas does not issue a state-specific safety coordinator license, but employers strongly prefer candidates who hold the OSHA 30-hour card and are working toward the Associate Safety Professional credential through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. Experience in construction, energy, or manufacturing makes candidates substantially more competitive in the Texas market.
How much do safety coordinators make in Texas?
Safety coordinators in Texas earn a median of about $79,660 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $46,380 for the lowest 10% to over $126,500 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire safety coordinators in Texas?
Employers hiring safety coordinators in Texas right now include Michels Corporation, Pilgrim's, and Bass Pro Shops, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of energy, petrochemical, and large-scale construction projects means demand is consistent across both corporate EHS departments and specialty safety contracting firms.
Which Texas cities have the most safety coordinator jobs?
Fort Worth, Houston, and Dallas have the most safety coordinator openings in Texas. Houston leads because of the Gulf Coast petrochemical corridor and the Port of Houston's industrial base, Dallas-Fort Worth draws volume from large commercial construction and corporate headquarters, and San Antonio's growth in military contracting and infrastructure development keeps a steady stream of openings active there as well.
Are there remote safety coordinator jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Safety coordination is largely a hands-on, site-dependent role, so fully remote positions are the exception rather than the norm. About 0% of safety coordinator openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those that do allow remote work tend to involve program administration, documentation review, or corporate compliance oversight rather than active field duties.
How can I get hired as a safety coordinator in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a safety technician or safety assistant role on a construction or industrial site, where you work alongside senior coordinators and build field hours. Large Texas contractors like Turner Construction and Fluor, along with oil and gas operators along the Gulf Coast, regularly bring on entry-level safety staff through apprenticeship pipelines and on-the-job training programs. Earning your OSHA 30-hour card before applying gives your application a concrete edge, and lateral moves from site supervision, quality control, or environmental technician roles are a recognized entry route in Texas.
Where can I find and apply to safety coordinator jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to safety coordinator jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Find the roles that fit your experience and location and apply directly.
